Default The Monkey's Head

I've attached a reduced size version of a photo of NGC2174, the Monkey's Head nebula (he's looking to the right). The little open cluster, NGC2175 is also included in the frame (lower left).

This image is a combo of 2hr lum and 2hrs Ha. The moon put a hold on collecting the RGB photons this month.

That reminds me. Two moons back I took a shot of this with the 14", really fills the frame to overflowing! But since I get clear skies only with severe moonlight I've not tried processing it. That moon is going to be a nasty. Add to that, I didn't use any H-alpha and I've really got a mess.

I hope it comes out half as well as your version, when I get up nerve to tackle it that is.

I'm hoping the weather pattern here is reversing. We now have strong moonlight. Instead of clear skies it is a blizzard out there. So maybe when the moon leaves I'll finally get clear skies and no moon. 7 months of the reverse is not helping disposition any my wife says.

Rick

A lovey shot with great detail. Looking forward to the colour data when the sky is kind.

Kind regards
Matt
