Hi ALL,
As seen in my previous post the comet 46/P Wirtanen was going through the Flaming star Nebula last night and conditions in the dayton area were not that good due to light pollution & moisture in the air, making bring out the nebula and 9th magnitude comet 46p difficult. so as my backup plan, I remote imaged the Comet from Huntsville, Alabama as well as here in Ohio. Here is a shot I took from perfectly clear Huntsvilles, Alabama, although it too has some light pollution, cleaning this image up was not that bad, the air was devoid of moisture, making this image possible. Takahashi FSQ106ED Refractor & STL11000M CCD, 15 min. each LRGB + 30 min. H-Alpha. (90 minutes total) taken on 03-24-08. The comet moved during this exposure time, but I stacked the LRGB on the comets head and then restacked on the stars to align them both up. I'm very happy with the results, The comet is the little green ball of light in front of the faint red gas. I've included 2 images, one showing the entire FOV, including a passing Meteor(what a nice surprise), and a closeup crop of IC405 The Flaming Star Nebula, & Comet 46/P Wirtanen. Unfortunately the file is too large to post here, but here is the link to it http://mvas.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1239
