Default SN 2008AX in NGC 4490

Seeing was awful last night until the moon rose. This is a quick and dirty process of the galaxy without much color data but the moon was killing me so I quit. I was dead tired as well.

I couldn't get a good reading on it so deep in the galaxy but am guessing about 13.6. It is about 3.5 times higher in ADU count than the 14.5 (I found 14.2 to 14.7 in catalogs) star at the east (left) end of the galaxy. I didn't put an eyepiece on it however.

Looks kind of like the eye of a blue whale.

A Fine catch on the super nova Rick, Even under adverse conditions it looks real good with many distant galaxies around it. Welldone and Clear Skies

great shot Rick!
I have observed this SN right now before clouds rolled in.
I also wanted to shoot this SN, which is very bright in a 20" dobs!
easily visible!

I wonder if it is getting brighter. Reports from 2 days ago like Dave Mitsky's show it rather hard to see compared to the star at the end of the galaxy. I show it brighter and it sounds even brighter in your shot.

At 4 a.m. when I was able to get this image I was too dead to try visually. Tonight its cloudy with snow to the west headed this way. No try tonight.
