Default Copernicus and Kepler

This is a mosaic of craters Copernicus and Kepler, Mare Imbrium and Oceanus Procellarum, taken on March 22, 2008.

The mosaic was constructed from 8 images, each of those being several hundred frames from about 1,800 stacked in Registax. I merged the mosaic using the photomerge capabilities in Photoshop. Most processing was done in PixInsight. One note, the algorithms in PixInsight need to have background at the edges. I created a neutral grey background that I left in place while I processed the image. I replaced it with black in the final image.

This was taken on a C-8 with a DMK firewire camera.

There are some artifacts from the mosaic combination in Photoshop. What other tools are there for aligning and combining mosaics?

Thanks for looking!

--Andy

Paul, Chrissy, and Efrain, thank you for the kind comments.

And I'll look into AutoStich.

Lovely image. Photomerge is it for PS. DeepSky
Stacker has a mosaic option for combining files but I haven't tried it.

Kind regards
Matt
