Default Virgo Cluster - M-84 and M-86

I imaged M-84, M-86 and friends a few nights ago between clouds and tree branches. Used the Canon 40D at ISO1600 through an 80mm Stellarvue Nighthawk II, a W.O. 66 mm guidescope, Orion Starshoot autoguider, all mounted on a CG-5. Moderate light pollution, so used a light pollution suppression filter. Series of exposures ranging from 90 seconds to 210 seconds stacked in DSS and processed in PSE4.

Probably need some more practice. APOD image for today:

A good shot of some of this cluster. A tough subject with the light polution.

Thanks Matt - it's difficult for me to get to dark skies. I'm hoping to go to a local club's star gaze this weekend. In the meantime, last night I shot Markarian's Chain with a wider field. Used a 300mm lens on my Canon 40D @ ISO800. Five 4 minute subs, two darks, two flats stacked in DSS and processed in PSE4. Again used the Hutech light pollution suppression filter on the camera.

You've got two galaxies labelled as M86 there. I think the one in the lower left corner is M88.

OOps. Thanks. I've just corrected it

Thanks JAICOA, went back last night to do some more of the Virgo Cluster. Centered on M-58 with a 300mm f/4.0 lens on my Canon 40D. A series of 4.5 minute exposures at ISO800, stacked in DSS.

Here's a negative to better show some of the smaller galaxies:

Default More of the Virgo Galaxies

Went out again last night imaging this area of the sky - used the Canon 200mm f/2.8L lens on the 40D for a wider field. Got seven Messier galaxies on the frame:
