Default Mel15 and the "Dragon's Lair"

Well, at least I think they look like a couple dragon's. The photo is the central portion of IC1805, with the cluster of young hot stars composing Melotte 15 providing the radiation needed to "light up" the strange dust complex.

Details are at: http://www.galacticphotography.com/a..._photos_6.html

Beautiful. Great contrast and plenty of data to fill out the nebula.

This is a really nice photo!

I've never seen it before. Staring at it for about a minute, i could imagin 5 dragons, 2 side on and 3 airial views.

Thankyou for broadening my horizons!

Appreciate the comments.

Occasionally a photo's color gets in the way of a subject's interesting form, shape, or texture. I think that this region is one that stands, without color, on its interesting forms/shapes (by the way, it's all red, with stars generally white and blue).

The next photo I'll process/post is opposite to this, it depends on its contrasting colors.

Thanks,
Robert

I'd like to see a longer focal length shot of this region, taken under really good seeing. I may try a shot later with my cassegrain (X3 the focal length used on this image), but I'm sure the seeing from my backyard won't do it justice.
