I'm confused. If a fully-lit Earth is coming up over the horizon, wouldn't you expect to see longer shadows in the Lunar foreground? The satellite should be nearly crossing the terminator, right?

The thing is...it's viewing from the direction of the sun (as in...facing away from the sun). That means the moon would always be full. In other words...try looking at the limb of the moon when its full.
