Default My back yard at night

30 second exposures, F3.5, AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm lens, Nikon D5000 camera, ISO 2500. This is the basic lens that came with the camera.

A lovely capture. Beautiful.

Looks like a Cosmic Volcanic Eruption, with the hills in foreground.

Thanks for sharing.

Nope. That was just a thirty-second exposure doing it's thing. This is aided by the fact that this photo was taken *long* after sundown, and yet the sky was still glowing... because the ATK-Thiokol plant on the other side of the hill leaves their 20,000 acres of lighting on all friggen' night.

Yup. Except when the horses get pushy. The cats getting pushy is one thing, but when half a ton of meat starts banging into you and trying to eat your hair, it kinda puts a damper on the skywatching mood.

Semi-rural Utah, on the other side of the hill from ATK-Thiokol at Promontory.

Great picture. Looks like you got a few messier objects, definately the lagoon nebula and possibly the M22 globular cluster, it looks like a fuzzy star in Sagittarius.
