Hmmmmm, I'm wondering if the pack of weirdos, although now slightly larger, gets a mention again.

I'm sure most of these deaths involve the full electromagnetic spectrum from radio to gamma-rays.

Thanks, I feel better. If I can't cheat death, I don't want it cheating me!

Cool Oh no! Not another one...

I have recently published a book titled "The Virtue of Heresy - Confessions of a Dissident Astronomer". It's about the bad science (mostly) that we are taught to use to try to explain what we see.

Publishing a book, especially in the popular science genre, and even more especially one that calls some of the heroes of cosmology half-blind sissies, is a testing task, one that takes your fortitude and tenacity to the brink of collapse. Some wags suggest it preferable that mine should have collapsed

With kind regards

BA Blog: Major book milestone

Quote:
I just sent the draft of my manuscript for Death from the Skies! to my editor.

PHEW!

This is a major step, of course. For one thing, it fulfills my contractual obligation of getting the book to the publishing house by November 12.
Ah...

Not so fast, author boy.

Quote:
But it’s nowhere near the end! Once my editor looks it over and edits it, I’ll have to revise it.
Hang in there. Congratulations for reaching this stage.

BA Blog: Why I love my BABloggees

Quote:
So I tease the book last night, and today I decide to check the Amazon rank… and look what I find! [image from Amazon.com]
Wow! I have no clue how many books that translates to as far as preorders go, but a rank of 2300 is pretty nice before the book is even out yet. Thanks everyone!
In the mean time, the book's stats have zoomed upward. Amazon product details:

Quote:
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #725 in Books (See Bestsellers in Books)

#1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Professional Science > Astronomy > Astrophysics & Space Science
#1 in Books > Science > Astronomy > Astrophysics & Space Science
#3 in Books > Science > Physics

I got a notification that this thread had been bumped, and I thought I'd do another photoshop of a cover for the book.

Gives me something to do.

I got the book a couple days ago, and it appears we've been downgraded from "denizens" to "minions".
