Good grief indeed. It starts off with a mis-quotation from Shakespeare, and I stopped reading at

It'd be one thing if the author were just putting this out there as feelings or notions or hearsay, but to say them with such ludicrous authority... I did enjoy reading it, to be honest, half for some bits of at-least-partially-valid information as well as for the tragic comedy.

I wish I had stopped there also and not continued on to read:

Gold is one of the more stable elements in the universe, and native earth gold is among the most stable of all. Even so, when its properties are misunderstood disaster can result, and such was the case in the tragic explosion of the recent space shuttle. Unstable and less understood elements were combined with gold, but the results were disastrous and unfortunate.

The first error occurs even before the Milky Way Solar System - gold is not AU, it is Au.

I just ran across this; it's not really "media". I know I've asked some dumb questions in my life, but, oh God...

And the chemistry student in me wants those bonus points. I can show off to the rest of the class, and get beaten up at breaktime. Just like the old days!
