Default BA Appearances

Finally met the BA, at the Sonoma County Astronomy Society meeting on Oct 12th.

Phil gave a very entertaining talk about debunking, the face on mars craziness, where Hoagland goes wrong etc.

Phil stayed around afterwards to talk with members, and lots of good points were raised and joked about. NASA, galactic rotation curves.

Lots of fun, thanks Phil,

Robbo

Hey, thanks! Astro clubs are one of my favorite venues for giving talks. I always have a good time, and it helps that it's only a few miles away.

Actually, yes I do. Do we need dark matter to explain galactic rotation curves? Hmmmmm.

We're talking about that here.

Does this qualify as ToSeeking the BA himself?

BA, when are you coming over to Australia again?? Was unable to attend the Skeptics Convention (drat it all!) but caught you on ABC radio debunking the moon hoax theory.

Nope. I became addicted in Oz last year, and I am spreading the love here in the States. I have lots of friends who like them, and I'm sure they'd sell well here. I don't know why they aren't here! I plan on asking Aussies coming to TAMIV to bring some.

I just found out my friend and fellow skeptic Richard Saunders is sending me some (along with video of his win on "Temptation").

Hard to believe someone would be pushing Minties, and not going all evangelical about Vegemite! Oh well...that's the way the boomerang banks, I guess...

BTW, dear OZians, are you folks still cooking up kangaroo tail soup?

badprof, wow, I appreciate it, but don't go to any trouble! I didn't mean for this to be a "take pity on the Minty-less me" fest.

On the other hand, these things are like Aussie crack. I am seriously going to contact the manufacturer and see why they aren't being sold here.

Thanks Phil & ToSeek for the update.

On the "other" topic here... as a NZer I have to say that Vegemite beats Marmite, but really neither is as effective as "real" shoe polish.

Minties now, that was one of the tougher things to leave behind when I left...

cheers,
Robbo
