Why do I read Frank & Ernest? I don't know. But, I do and June 7th's had a brush with bad astronomy.
Frank, or is it Ernest -- who knows? -- looking at the starry sky, says: "Do you realize the light from that star left over a hundred thousand years ago and it only just got here?" It would be tough to resolve a particular star that is 100-thousand lightyears away, like one near the other side of the galaxy. But, to be generous, I suppose they could have not resolved "that star" naked-eye, but have been talking about some described star, like the farthest star in our galaxy, or the nearest star in the Large Magellanic Cloud, or perhaps they had a viewing instrument just out of frame.
