This meme needs more buzz.

I just found out that our TV show pilot, Skeptologists, has a Facebook page! You can become a fan of the show, and look at photos taken on set too.

What channel?

Oh, and I don't want to believe there was a second gunman; that would mean someone running around loose the last 45 years. (Okay, who is probably now dead unless they were young for an assassin at the time. Not the point.) But that's a discussion for another board--though I will ask one thing. If they do a JFK show, can we talk about it here?

Not all pilots are. (Believe me, I know--I once saw a pilot made for, I believe, CBS that never made it to the air. Because it was awful.) However, if it is, it may well either be syndicated or for the Great History/Discovery Conglomerate.

All signs to me are that a small production company (New Rule Productions) developed it and they are shopping it around, not that a big channel ordered it for evaluation.

Discovery Communications offers similar, so it might be a good home. On the other hand, they already offer similar.

BA Blog: The Skeptologists teaser video

Quote:
Very cool: the folks at New Rule Productions put together a quick teaser trailer for The Skeptologists. I’ve uploaded it to Youtube

It’s also on Facebook. The subject of the video is… well, if the show gets picked up, you’ll find out.

[From the show's director:]
Quote:
The Skeptologists will be pitched to major networks soon, and we want to give the programming executives a sense of what kind of support they can received if they invest in a TV series of this kind.

Skeptologists is a homeless show. It's got a shoestring budget and is intended to be shopped around. Brian Dunning (of Skeptico) is one of the producers. It's got a decent cast, including our Phil, Michael Shermer of CSI (that's Center for Skeptical Inquiry, not the lets-pretend-to-do-forensics show), Steve Novella of Skeptics Guide to the Universe and El Presidente of the New England Skeptical Society, and notable others I'm less familiar with.

That is a good cast. And a good idea. I guess I could get used to "Skeptologists."

Reminds me of how "LSD" is the Track and Field term for "Long, Slow, Distance".

And I thought this might be a show about the study of skeptics and skepticism...

BA Blog: New Skeptologists trailer

Quote:
We’re also working behind the scenes, putting together ideas and getting ready to pitch the show. But we still need your help! If you support this idea (and if you read this blog, then you do) then please let it be known! The more signatures we get, the more likely a studio executive will listen to us.

Last I checked, hours ago, no.

Could be one today though. The BA was supposed to announce some big news of something in BA Blog yesterday, after a database massage. The announcement slipped to 1100 EDT (which has just passed).

At the same time, perhaps purely unconnected synchronous coincidence, Carl Zimmer's Science Blogs: The Loom moved to Discover Magazine: The Loom -- in an announcement that likewise was planned for late Monday and slipped to early Tuesday.

Kinda makes me wonder if Discover could be the BA's new home. I don't know. I don't know!

Some were speculating a BA move to Science Blogs, to be near his bud PZ Meyers (or to keep a closer eye on his deadly tentacles).

And, some speculated about a Skeptologists announcement, but that wouldn't explain the blog maintenance activity -- probably.

Also speculated: a makeover to reflect the new book.

There's a bunch of people about to turn blue...
