Few days ago when checking the finnish forum for the excellent game Mount&Blade, I stumbled on an 18-page long argument between a staunch Bible-believer and some other folks.
I joined in and wrote several long replies to him where I tried to show him that his "absolute truth" isn't that absolute after all. And that science is the better way. (He was also attacking science, saying that he had studied it and found it lacking). Anyway, several times I used your informative examples of stellar bodies etc to explain a particular point. Unsurprisingly, I didn't convince him but an other poster replied to me and told me that I had opened his eyes and thanked me for all the information I gave. Which I basically just dug up from your and PZ's site and Wikipedia and translated into finnish. So, thanks for great blog - keep it up! Unfortunately, the whole conversation is in finnish so there's no much point of copying it here. But if there's other finns here, I can give you the URL if you want to check it out. |

My housemate and her Finn's...
Only for her- it's on IRC. They changed her screen name from Daisy- to Dizzy to Dizen. Now it's evolved further to Dizzen. We have current standing votes as to the next form her name will take. She can speak some Finnish. I think it comes easy for her because she's Chinese. But recently, her new interest is Arabic. ETA: Spoke to soon. I've just been informed the latest evolution is "gurf" I didn't see it coming. |
