It probably is fake, but I don't know for sure... it mentions Richard Hoagland, so that contributes to the fake-osity I suppose (and the website is pretty far into the conspiracy theory realm). Still, check it out.

EDIT: Reading again, it's almost certainly fake. Again though, take a look.

EDIT #2: It would seem that the author of the article has intentionally confused us readers, as on a site that they link to, the image presented on the page *I* linked to is an actual crinoid fossil from earth. This is being compared to the so-called fossil on Mars. Mehhhh. :x

The bigger part of the image is an Earth fossil. The little inset on the lower left is the one from Opportunity.

An earth fossil on Mars? So thats what happend to the dinosaurs, they went on holiday and never came back
