First off, any Toronto area digital cable subscribers (rogers or shaw) can watch this 53 minutes 'mocumentry' using the Video on Demand feature. It's located under 'FreeStuff/CBC on Demand/Conspiracy/DarkSideofTheMoon'.

For everyone else, I highly recommend you all find some way to watch this video. As you may have guessed, it's called "Dark Side of the Moon". It is of French origin, although everyone in the video is speaking English. I'm not sure if it is available in any other form except for through a digital cable service, as I viewed it.

Quick description, it stars Henry Kissenger, Donald Rumsfield, Buzz Aldrin and several other high level government officials. (all playing themselves). There are several other lower level government employees portrayed, but I couldn't attest to whether or not they really were playing themselves. As well it stars the wife of lately Stanely Kubrick (sp?) and his family and friends.

Eventually after some background on Kubrisk, it really get's going. It has all these government officials admitting that although the moon landing went ok, they had to use pre-shot footage to show the public because the original film had been destroyed, etc... Then they go into detail about how Nixon had ordered everyone involved with the film murdered, but then quickly backed out. But after Nixon had backed out, a CIA executive went insane and took matters into is own hands.

Well I could go on forever, but regardless I think everyone should try to find some way to watch this. I haven't really looked into the background of the movie, so I haven't figured out if the government officials are playing along and reading a script going to them, or if the film-makers simply spliced together answers from different questions.

But regardless of why they said it, this would make a great video to show your local lunar cospiracy nut. Tell him you just taped it off CNN, it might just make him jump with joy when he finds out he's "right"

The producers have a web site where they clearly spill the beans. The aim of the program is to make you question just how much television you routinely believe without thinking.

This show was the funniest thing I saw on TV all last year. By the time they got up to the 500,000 US troops hunting down the 4 film crew (complete with footage of paratroopers leaping out of transports, choppers in formation over the pyramids at Gizeh and the US 6th Fleet at full steam), I had tears streaming down my cheeks!

You gotta admit though, they did such a good job producing a movie, a woo-woo wouldn't have any problem believing what these people were saying.

BTW my favorite part was the Vietnamese family who kept the American corpse for their 'children to play with'.

I didn't understand much from the webpage offered (Danish), but it looks like the same movie.

That's the disturbing thing. When they screened it here last year, the presenter specifically made the point that it was not a real documentary. Apparently, they were still bombarded with phone calls.

(I also liked the Rabbi talking about the film technician who spent 10 years hiding in a synagogue. Given his experience, he gradually turned bitter and became "an acidic Jew".

At the end of the show, they included the Rabbi noting off-camera that the joke didn't translate well into Yiddish! And yet people still took it seriously!)
