Recently a special aired on Discovery Channel Canada which debunked the moon hoax nonsense, which featured our friend Jay Utah. It will probably air in the US within a month or so, so keep an eye out.

Discovery Canada had dibs since they helped pay for it. I haven't yet seen the finished product, but I'm told I did good. :-)

I'm told it will likely be shown in the U.S., but I don't know when.

This is just too exciting! When it's known what channel will be showing it in the US please post date and times. It's about time, I'm so sick of the shows promoting the hoax being shown without a good rebuttal to toss back at them.

We fell behind the Russians in space race. Now we are behind the Canadians in spreading the truth? Why?

I mean, Fox network is all eager to telecast the hoax nonsense and our networks in the USA are not eager to telecast this show?

In this case Discovery Canada and Channel 5 (U.K.) paid to produce the program. They have a right to recover revenue through first broadcast, before letting Discovery U.S. profit from something they didn't pay for. It's strictly a business decision. If a U.S. network had decided to pay to produce the program, it would air first in the U.S.

Same argument, just less direct.

Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot. This is what I get for largely ignoring Discovery since dropping @discovery.ca and filling up 3/4 of their day with Monster _______. Was this a Sunday showcase? They usually repeat those docs endlessly. I mean, Nefertiti Resurrected was on twice yesterday...

I believe the program will be repeated half a dozen times over the next month, but not at very convenient times.

Well, http://www.exn.ca says that it will re-air on Thursday, June 24th at 6pm, and Friday, June 25th at 2pm on Discovery Canada. I don't think the website gives their late-late night schedule, though.

[edit]
Check that. I'm blind. Late-late night is listed.

http://www.discovery.com doesn't have the June schedule up, and it's not listed for May. I have a feeling that it'll air sometime around when Discovery Canada's re-broadcasting it, though, since they usually re-run their documentaries as a Sunday Showcase bit.

I'm wondering now, if this was on "mythbusters" just last weekend. I caught it at 2 am Fri night/Sat am. It includes clips of interviews with Kaysing and other HB'ers and then shows how they are wrong? My mind was a bit foggy when I caught the show. Or did I happen to catch some different show?

There is also going to be a program called "Xtreme Mysteries: NASA Moon Mission" on the Canadian Discovery Channel on June 2nd, at 8:30pm ET. But I'm very interested in seeing the program with Jay, so I've signed up for an email reminder at the Discovery Channel website.

Here's the website's description for Jay's program:

"Examine conspiracy theories purporting that the 1969 moon landing was faked; with the help of experts, each is dismantled and a forensic examination offers definitive proof."

Here's the description for "Xtreme Mysteries":

"Critics claim the Apollo missions were a fraud and raise compelling scientific arguments that the moon landing never happened; startling evidence about this historic mission may surprise."

The second show sounds less like it's on "our side", but I'll reserve judgement until I have seen it. But any program that spells extreme like that loses points in my opinion.

OK got my answer, may have been Xtreme mysteries that I saw. Needless to say it's hard for the brain to function at that hour of the morning. Will keep my eyes peeled for repeats of both shows.

I don't think the Xtreme show has aired before. Jay's program did air at 1am ET on Friday/Saturday so it probably is the show you saw.

Okay, I don't get it. I looked up Mythbusters, and was shown a couple times it airs - one Friday at 8pm central, one Monday night. I checked and both times TV Guide listed and the channel aired American Chopper.

So when is Mythbusters on? I mean, I might actually enjoy it if I could find it.

Interesting. I've heard from a very reliable source that many execs at Discovery Canada had sided with the hoax believers.

Hmmm... maybe if the channel execs buy into the hoax, then they look on a defense of the landings as a "startling, shocking, and controversial" documentary. And as we all know, that's the kind of show people tune into in droves!

Okay, maybe not...

Still, there must have been some sort of reverse psychology at work...

A friend of mine makes docs for the Discovery Channel. While making one on the apollo missions they "suggested" that he change 'hatch' to 'door' in the narration because they didn't think anyone would understand what a 'hatch' was.

It's bad when people with power in the media are stupid, and even worse when they think everyone else are.

Or maybe they believe in telling both sides of a story, assuming there are two. Discovery Canada doesn't have a TLC Canada to throw the programs they feel are "junky" on. We get the same 16 hours of A Pathetic Story as those State-side, followed by random stories on crop circles and 10 year old episodes of Byond 2000.
