I had to do a Google search to figure out what you were talking about.

Had to be some search! Another clue would've been my second quote. Interestingly enough, Crow provided a response to the line I wrote: "Its called 'evil' kid." :P

I think it was Collins who once suggested that Neil should just shout: "Oh my god, what's that!" and then cut the transmission.
And Gene Cernan said, Neil's colleagues were absolutely not astonished by the good words Neil choose. They were astonished that he said anything at all.

Interesting that the description has the quote wrong.

what, exactly, were Neil Armstongs first words after stepping off the ladder onto the lunar surface? for over 3 decades, it was " one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
but, a couple of years ago, some femininst group was saying- in a rather public and "if you disagree with me you are an insensitive sexist pig"way- that he said "one small step for A man.."
personally , i can't hear the "A" in there, but the PC folks swear he HAD to say it that way, or he is a sexist pig, and if i don't hear it, it's because i don't WANT to hear it because i am a sexist pig.
so, guys (and gals)- what's the final answer on this one?
A woman's perspective: I don't find this offensive at all. (If it is "man" and not "a man.") And, either way, he says mankind, so it could be sexist no matter what!! "Man" has so long been used as a term to refer to humanity in general. I highly doubt that 99% of the people who use it are trying to be sexist. If women are running around screaming about inequality, based on this quote, that's just ridiculous. I'm more focused on the beauty of the quote (so what if he wrote it ahead of time?) and the amazing feat accomplished as those words were spoken.

not an error in the description, i've e-mailed the seller about it

his answer:

"Yes that is what he really said . Goes all the way to the moon and then blows his lines!"

I believe ToSeek was referring to "one giant step" as being in error. The correct quote is "...one giant leap

Those typed NASA transcripts that had been produced on-the-fly for the reporters are well know to contain many errors. They were not proofread very much and never corrected later. Ask people like Ereic Jones of the ALSJ and Dave Woods from the AFJ. They compared the transcripts and the real voice downlink and had to do many corrections.
Those NASA transcripts were in no way defining documents.

Yes. In this crowd I didn't think I'd need to specify the error.

seems that way. besides "step" and "leap" both comprise four letters and end in p. so it's an easy mistake to do.
