How come the US government is supposedly able to "almost" perfectly hide a massive moon landing conspiracy since the 60s - as some would have it - yet, apparently, not have the ability to fake WMDs in Iraq? This is something it could have done relatively easy if it was in the business of public deception.
(This is a rhetorical question about lunar conspiracy, not requiring any discussion about the politics of WMD in Iraq.) RBG |

Because the powers that be are alternately extraordinarilly foolish or fantastically clever, depending on the requirements of the conspiracy in question.
NASA can hide planet X, super-meteors, comets and all other manner of object from their satellite and observatory pictures. Mass edits abound, I'm told, in their released photos, but coke cans and fudged crosshairs somehow sneak into moon landing shots. The government can keep the little green men and their space ships stowed carefully away in Hanger 19, but whistleblowers, leaks and spies still exist. The woos will point enlessly at NASA's figures on distance and threat as long as they support their doomsday prophecy (up to the point where they whiz by harmlessly), but when NASA says that the "glass tubes" are sand dunes...

I still remember how stupid I felt reading the Frasier stuff on RCH's site. What the heck is wrong with that guy! Please don't answer that!
I suppose if he had lived in the 19th century, Jules Verne would have been part of the disclosure project.
