Default Bart Sibrel on radio show on February 16 - 21 min. clip

In all fairness, BABB already has a mention of this in another forum (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19718), but itīs actually possible to listen to Bart Sibrel in the radio show broadcast on February 16, 2005. One can only try to imagine, how he - once again - has polluted the minds of countless people with his nonsense .... (Sigh !)

Hereīs the link to the 21 min. clip with Bart (opens in Real Player):

Also saw this mention in the shows diary:

"Bart Sibrel, as part of our "Conspiracy Theory" week, joined us today to talk about the conspiracy that the moon landing was a hoax. It seemed that he had an answer for everything. But think about this. The fact that in a press conference the Apollo 11 astronauts were asked if they saw any stars they replied they don't remember. And apparently that's supposed to mean something. THEY WERE ON THE FREAKING MOON!!!! They almost forgot to collect samples for crying out loud. And if you ever seen any pictures taken from space or the moon, you will notice that without the filter of a convex atmosphere to look at the stars from Earth, the stars are very spread out and not very photogenic. Another thing, what about the footprints and Apollo 11 spacecraft remnants left on the moon. Heck, they left the freakin' moon rover up there for crying out loud. We have incredible powerful telescopes to prove it. In the event that the landing site comes around again in view of Earth's rotations, it will be. I still think they got there, 'cause that's a heck of a lot of trouble to go through just to say we get there first."

Sibrel argues that the "wrong" astronaut (Collins) answered and that this statement was wrongly attributed to Aldrin later on in an attempt to cover up the mistake. The reporter asked two questions, and Armstrong answered the first and Collins answered the second. It was proper for Collins to have answered the second question. Sibrel just considers it all one question.

...without the filter of a convex atmosphere to look at the stars from Earth, the stars are very spread out and not very photogenic.

Uh, not really.

We have incredible powerful telescopes to prove it.

No, unfortunately we don't have telescopes that can see the lunar equipment.

In the event that the landing site comes around again in view of Earth's rotations, it will be.

The moon is, unfortunately, tidally locked and always presents the same side to us -- the side on which all the landings took place.

I admire the zeal of those who disbelieve Sibrel, but unfortunately if we're going to be servants of the truth then we have to look especially hard at the errors we ourselves commit. Replacing one misunderstanding with another misunderstanding produces no net benefit.

Huh??? Why is it that so many folks who don't know that the Moon is often up in the daytime or who don't recognize a Newtonian reflector as a telescope consider themselves to be experts on astronomy?
