I am new to this message board and would like to post a breif compelation of my thoughts on this crap that has been floating around the internet like flotsum around a wrecked ship.I am here to dsipell at least some of the crap about this here

The story is is that a planet sized rock, is going to be coming into the inner solar system on a comet like Partabolic trjectory coming within a great proximity to earth and cauing any number of cataclysism's from torrential volcanism to a suden and violent pole shift producing 300 mph winds on the surface of the earth and stripping most of the atmosphere of the planet.

Problems;

Well, where to start.

How about with the actual position of the object. If this object is supposed to have these types of effects over an extended distance (a claim s made that we will fell the tug of this planet physicly when it is still 1 AU out) than it would be easily seen not only by now, but many many years ago as It made it's way into the solar system. The object in order to strip the atmosphere from our planet (assuming it was relativly earth sized) would have to get within approximatley 10 miles of the surface of a planet and at that distance any momentum the planet has is taken over by the attractive forces of the twoplanets gravity thus one cannot have atmosphere of any appciable value leaching from the planet in this manner.

Now this panet is supposedly in some sort of a 3600 year orbit around the sun, if it is too be belived that this object is moving from the outer solar system to the inner solar system in a matter of a few months from this highjly eccentric orbit. Now I do not have the exact figures here but I belive that this velocity would give the object enough momentum to acheive escape velocity from the solar system and would therefore not be part of our solar system ylike some of these highly questionable sourcres conjecture.

Pole shifts happen occasionaly, these are cuased by the gradual movment of the north pole to the south pole ect. This happens not onlyon earth but on the Sun as well producing what we know of as the 11 year sunspot cycle, in which the pole's of the sun flips in connection with the sunspot cycle. This also happens on earth withn a fair amount of regualrity of about every 500,000 years depending on the sources. These events are never violent and are stricly realted to the magnetic currents coarsing through the volcanic magma of the planets interior shifting poles gradually strictly through the movments of the EM currents. Therefore it is unlikely that a planet coming near us could cause a pole flip, but maybe alter the 26,000 processiopn of the polar axis and thus change the orientation of the earth relative to the solar eccliptic.
It is also extremely unlikly that this would produce 300+mph winds on the suface of the Earth.

Now while it possible to have a massive object increase the amount of volcanism (see Jupiters effects on Io for example) it is highly unlkly that this would be possible without detection at all and add to that the source would have to be either unbeliveavly close (Lunar distance) to have any appreciable or notablecataclysimic effect, it would be very easy to detect by most major observatory's.
Now there has also been soime banter about these major observatories keeping this information secret from the public. While I completly doubt that is even remotely possible as there is no way of eeping this kind an observation secret in the very open asstronomiccal community there is another detraction from this theory.
Amature astronomers are constantly scanning the sky's for this sort of discovery, God if you think discovering as comet is big, how about another planet! The fact that not even one of these astronomers has even observed anything remotely resembleing a planet or it's ilk.

It is for this and only how many other explainations for this that not only am I skectical about this scenerioi, but I think it it is highly improbable to the point of almost being impossible.

Dick Hoagland doesn't even buy this crap, and he'll buy into nearly anything conspiritorial.

The man who originated the idea of Niburu, coming from interpretation of Sumerian and messipotamian text's say's that even he does not belive that this object will pass by any time soon if at all..(BTW sorry I'm missing the site right now)

If anyone wants to add to this by helping to dispell some of the crap centred around these unverified internet rumors.

-Mark.

Welcome europaslayer, but I think this belongs in the "Against the mainstream" forum. You might be interested in this recent thread which I started.

Funny. . . the Sun, which as I recall is a little bit bigger than our lovely earth, is 1 AU away, and I'm pretty hard pressed to feel it's "tug" when I'm out and about on a daily basis. . .

No, that could really work. Honest.
