I talk to Jonathan online every so often, but not recently. The key to this is the elusive "Eric" who used to run the site on Jonathan's behalf, but who has now disappeared from planet Earth. (Maybe the Zetans got him.)

If I managed my site completely I'd donate a share, but we're actually borrowing from a member and I had to hit him up for some more bandwidth this morning.

Does anybody know what the disk space and bandwidth was like?

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think the site (both the main page and forum) used less than 50mb of webspace. It got more traffic than my site, but almost certainly less than 5gb of bandwidth useage per month (my site uses between 1-2gb/month).

Well my site has unlimited bandwidth usage and storage space on it at US$15 a month, but I already have a phpBB on it and I'm pretty sure that I'm not allowed to have a second site on it, though I can check that out.

Hey, I run a web hosting company in my spare time, I'm sure I can help out with a hosting deal for apollohoax - I can't do it for free, but I'm sure we could work something out. I see from above that you don't need a ton of space, what's the bandwidth like every month? Email me or send me a pm, let's talk - that site needs to be online!

Default Apollohoax

Hi. I'm just trying to sort this all out. Eric has indead vanished. As LunarOrbit pointed out, we don't even know where it is hosted or how it was set up. The thing is, I don't mind paying but I need to kow who to pay! And where to send the money. I've gotten used to using credit cards online, blame Ebay for that, and I do want this sorted as soon as possible, because as soon as my work settles down to a dull roar, I'm going to want to be back in the mix at apollohoax!

Thanks for all your help, and I'll muddle through the best I can.

My ISP allows some webspace, but I don't know how to transfer the site, or the domain name or indeed where to start! I will get on this ASAP.

Your ISP probably doesn't allow php or a mysql database, ISP webspace is usually only good for small personal sites and pictures.

I thought Ong posted about the Chinese soldiers under NYC?

Already we're losing our corporate memory! A few more weeks without appollohoax and we'll start to believe Paul McCartney is dead, too.

At $128/ticket for this year's concert, he's dead to me!

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I have an existing forum on hyperboards that gets practically no use.

I'd happily turn it into a new home for people. Alternatively, we could just create another one using hyperboards, proboards, eyc.

Yes, we lose the previous posts (for now) but it gives us a clean slate to start with.

Wadda chew tink?

Resurrecting Apollohoax in oder to keep using it and obtaining the old posts are really two separate goals that may have two separate solutions. Restarting the forum elsewhere is likely the best low-cost venture, while petitioning the previous ISP for an archive file of the site's current contents (whether or not they migrate dynamically to the new site) may be a solution.

I have set up a new forum for ApolloHoax. It's an ad supported service, the ApolloHoax.com domain doesn't point to it (not yet, but it can eventually), and the old posts can not be imported into it... but at least we've got something.

Let me know if there is any way I can improve it.

LO - I tried to register at the new board - I can't log on now and when I asked for the board to send me my password - I didn't receive anything.

I know I messed up somehow. #-o (Guess I'm living up to my user name)

I've PM'd you my email address so you can either email me a new password or just delete my user account and I'll try again - whichever is easer for you.

It doesn't give me access to your password or even the ability to edit your profile so I deleted your account... please try again. I'm not sure what the problem was because you entered your email address correctly etc. Maybe the email with your password was stopped by a spam filter or something. :-?

The same thing happened to me, no email giving me my password.

Can you delete the user 'twinstead' so I can try again as well?
