I've lately been getting complants about my site (It's in the sig) and i need to know what you thnk.

The complants are.

1: Font of the buttons (Such as This weeks hoax) Dosn't look right.

2: The background image for the colums doesn't look right.

3: Top banner too big.

4: too many colums.

5: top menu not big anough.

What do you think? Should i scrap this template and restart (Has i've got two other templates Which if you PM me i'll be happy anough to send you

The top banner is a bit large for dialup connections. Try compressing it a bit more.

The white text on the silver backgroung is kinda hard to read.

The text on the buttons is too large. Try a smaller point size.

I would reduce it to two columns or increase the page width.

The center column needs the text moved to the right one or two spaces. Being that close to the left column makes it hard to read.

What happens if a big asteroid hits the Earth? Judging from realistic simulations involving a sledge hammer and a common laboratory (insert least favorite test animal, person), we can assume it will be pretty bad.

1: Font of the buttons (Such as This weeks hoax) Dosn't look right.
It's not the font so much as their display. The white text starts to dissapear into the white of the gradient. It feels... clunky-ish. And the "top five articles" runs out of the image on the right and left sides.
My suggestion: keep the gradient but pull the text down past it so that it's completely in the grey part of the image.

2: The background image for the colums doesn't look right.
Same as the buttons. The white of the gradient washes out the test. Use a table or other formatting to pull the text out of the gradient and into the grey area.

3: Top banner too big.
If you had framed the page and made it stay there, yeah. But I don't think it's too big. You might could reduce it 10% or so but it's workable to me.

4: too many colums.
No yet yes. Three colums is fine, but that extra gradient on the right (for my resolution setting at least) makes it look like you have 5 columns, two of which are empty and makes it feel too busy.

5: top menu not big anough.
Nah, though I'd suggest centering the text so that it the feel is more balanced. (Your "discussion zone" link has a '|' infront of 'discussion', intentional?

Additional:
You left side apollo hoax link is broken

Keep tweaking it and you'll have a nice site. One suggestion might be to try a different font for the text too. Whatever you're using, tachoma?, is a bit... squished looking.

All-in-all, it's a good start.

Hmm true, 30kb is on the edge. However, I'm already seeing jpeg artifacts; further compression is going to be bad on appearance.

One possibility is to bite-size it. Break it up into smaller images and use a table to tile it in. Still the same size, but you won't cause the webpage to seemingly freeze as evertying pauses to download that one image.

I've now done a new page layout, shown on the index page.

I've done this so you can see the changes.

The top menu image isn't working not that it's important has it's just there to keep the width of the background the way i wan't it.

BTW I'm puttting up new images at the begining of every hoax or conspiracy and the index page i've finished two so far. (Index and apollo hoax) How are they?

APollo hoax 1st page:

Are you sure you have the rights to use all the (parts of) images on your site? Otherwise, the "(c) conspiracy ...." at the bottom has little value .

Oh, and the bottom of page2 of appolo hoax reads "pervious page" .

To the regular visitor of internet bulletin boards it is clear that it's an excellent idea your parents get to choose your real name.

Some of your navigation items are of a different font size and font face. It appears that these aren't links so aren't covered by the stylesheet, (e.g. Under construction & 3-10: Not avalible).

(p.s. it should be "available")

Some of the content on the front page is also of a different font size and font face, namely that under the Hoax heading.

Typos:

--at the top, "Wellcome" should be "Welcome".

--on the left, "Bigraphy Conspiracy" should be "Biography Conspiracy". And on its page, " navagation" should be "navigation".

--also on the left, "Not avalible" should be "not available".

--generally speaking, it's better to use "ID cards", with "id" capitalized, because otherwise what it's saying is "Id" cards, meaning a part of your personality, your "id", your "ego", your "superego", and so forth.

--"This site also has many other conspiracies and hoaxes on there site" should be "on their site".

--This: link gives me a "404 Not Found, The requested URL www.lunnarannomiles.com was not found on this server." That's because you spelled it wrong: it's http://www.lunaranomalies.com/

I just checked and there was one part of the index image that i shouldn't use (The ufo bit, that came from a graphics desiner ops: ops: ops: )

On my dial up connection, I had no trouble loading it or getting aound in it. I could read it OK, though I personally find light text on dark more tiring than dark text on light.

But one thing I was struck by is that in a web site whose purpose is to be credible and convincing, the grammatical errors and spelling errors were a serious distraction. Like a banker with a hole in his trousers.

You might run your text through a word processor for spell and grammar check or at least have someone proof it. Don't give the enemy something irrelevant to focus on.

Forbidden Planet might have turned out differently if they had those Id cards.

The spelling should be fine has i spell check everything. Possibly the american spelling is different to the american version. (Mabey i should make a new US friendly site?)

Not to belabor it (belabour?), but details are details.

SOme of the errors will not be found with a spell checker such as the their/there problem pointed out above. And "pervious" is still there in a couple places.

I wasn't thinking so much American English versus UK English. I noted country names and Europe not capitalized. In the US we capitalize those. Is that not the way in the UK?

SOmeone pointed out ID cards versus Id cards. In that article it seemed that it was not consistent - I saw ID, Id, id all in use.

ANd one that jarred me was "briton" or what I would write as Briton. I have always seen the place spelled Britain, and we used Briton for someone who lived there. Britons live in Britain. Is that not the case over there? I had to adjust a long time ago to changing from Great Britain to the United Kingdom, so I don't doubt I am ignorant of a lot of other things.

Of course then there is that whole Beiping, Peiping, Peking, Beijing thing. I will never get comfy with that process. But that has nothing to do with your efforts.

The left menu gradient draws the eye into the center of the menu.
Perhaps you could make it go light to dark, left to right- to draw the eye to the content.
