And the Sun is hurtling through Space. I have no idea how fast the Sun is hurtling through space, as there would have to be something that had a velocity of 0 to compare against, and I don't know if that something exists. But I would think it a fair and reasonable ovservation to note that the Sun is hurtling through speeds that approach, or perhaps equal, breakneck.

Relative to other stars, the Sun's velocity is on the order of 10 km/s. However this varies depending on the star, as some are in approach, and others are in recession, and each with different tangential velocities as well.

The sun's orbital velocity around the center of the Milky Way is around 200-250 km/s

But why are you bringing this up? I'm not seeing what your point is with all this talk of "breakneck speeds" and things.

(edited to correct typo)

I think Joe is having fun with us. He isn't even talking about the photographs anymore. Unless the sun's velocity has something to do with the pictures being faked

It is clear Joe has no further intention of presenting and defending a case. I plan to devote much less attention to him unless he comes back to the questions outstanding against his hypotheis.

Could it be that, what with us moving along at "breakneck" speeds, the photos would have to be blurry, and since they're not they must be faked?

Let's see. I can do that in my head. That equals 26,034,000,000,000 miles. Man!! Chemist, you were right. 250,000 is just down the road!! And that's the NEAREST star.. Thanks for explaining that to me!!!
The nearest star is Proxima Centuri.

If you wait about half a minute, a little button comes up in the lower right hand corner that will enlarge the pic. Why can't I get the pic to post? I tried <img src =http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/alsj/a17/as17-137-20979.jpg > and the darned thing won't post. Any suggestions???

Mr. Witts, I have a sneaking suspicion that he is going to ask us why there is no tire track behind the wheel. Because, you see, the rover was lowered onto the "moon set" by a crane....

I thought he was going to tell us that this photo, being well lit, perfectly focused, and absolutely breathtaking, must have been taken in a studio on the Earth by an expert photographer. Surely a pilot couldn't have achieved this virtuoso in photography!

You guys are way behind the times....the crane thing is so....yesterday.

No...the stagehands just spread the fake lunar soil around the set after making the fake fender repairs.

Wait. how do we know the stagehands weren't fake, too? This conspiracy might go deeper than I first thought....

I don't think they are called stagehands in the Australian outback.

Ooh. How completely relevant to the topic that people are discussing right now. I didn't know that! That's crazy. Stagehands being called a different name? Woopdy doo.

I've lost track of the topic after 14 pages, can someone please refresh my memory.

They're called "grips" in the motion picture business.

As for the photo:

Joe, I haven't closely read through all these posts so excuse me if this has already been clarified but are you saying that the moon shots might have been taken in the Australian outback (near Pine Gap perhaps) instead of Area 51 as has been thought? Funny, 'cos that thought came to me a day or two ago. Maybe this whole Area 51 thing is a sidetrack from the real truth.

Maybe when we see the astronauts leaping we are not really astronauts at all. Maybe they are kangaroos that have been dressed up to look like astronauts. Do kangaroos jump the way that astronauts would expect to jump on the moon?

Of course it is. There's too many UFOs crowded at Area 51, so they hid those Moon sets somewhere else.

Watch the videos and you'll see the astronauts jumping about a foot in up with a hang time of about a second. On the Earth one would have to jump four feet to get a one second hang time.

Also, the hammer and feather dropped by David Scott on the Apollo 15 mission hit the ground in about 1.2 or 1.3 seconds. On Earth objects fall 23 ft in 1.2 seconds.

best regards,

Dana

Forget the time it took (no doubt Joe will say they used high speed photography), how does Joe explain a feather falling to the ground at the same speed as a hammer if it was done on a set ?
