Well I might be wrong, but I'd imaging that the original transparencies are stored in a dark and well controlled enviroment safe. Not only to keep them from degrading, but because they would be priceless.

They are kept well locked away in a fridge.

that's a pretty good idea, though i'd modify it slightly... at least, allow the jury to see such photos with the caveat that the information may be suspect. in the US, a good attorney would shred such evidence (figuratively) on cross. unfortunately, good attorneys are rare. unfortunately as well, i'm at work and can't check half of these sites...
