Isn't it interesting how a seemingly innocuous substitution of a word can alter a basic concept into something that supports your position. "Independently verified" -- and the rocks, tracking, etc., have been independently verified -- becomes "independently duplicated" -- a very different thing.

Yes. The latter implies the situation can be duplicated, which casts a pall over scientific study of occurrences, as opposed to phenomena. Science is not blind in that respect. Duplication is not the only means of verification.

You're all missing the bigger implications. This means that the entire Guinness Book of World Records is bunk. All those record setting highs haven't been matched yet, so by this logic, they must be fake.

That does it! I just knew that all of those "records" of guys wolfing down 1000 hot dogs in 2 minutes, etc., had to be bogus.

You know, behind all those, shall we say, "unique" word and sentence constructions is a mind that knows what's valuable and what isn't! 8)
