Default The Real Reason Behind the Apollo Landing Sites

Ever wonder how and why the various Apollo lunar landing sites were chosen? Here's a website that reveals the real reason behind the locations of the landings.

More proof of the validity of Harlan Ellison's pronouncement. :-?

Without even reading any text the first thought that comes to mind is, why did they go for the most awful clash of colours, purple and orange?

Colorblindness? 8)

Then perhaps because the prose is purple, and after reading the page you think to yourself "Orange you glad you can use critical thinking skills and dismiss this nonsense?"

That joke is worse than their colour scheme.

However, just to add a bit of science to what would otherwise be a fluff post...

Most people that are "colourblind" are red/green colour blind, so they can't tell the difference between red and green. It is really actually colour deficent though as they still see colour. Others, though much rarer, are blue/yellow colour deficent and true colur blindness, seeing only in black and white, is very rare.

Of course it's not really an excuse when doing web development as you know exactly which colours you are using because you have to actually type them into the code.

If one views the source code for the page, this line shows up:

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 4.0">

Therefore it's highly probable that no typing of code was involved. Instead the webpage "author" most likely just picked colors from the palette menu he thought were pretty (or pretty obnoxious).

Your science content reminds me of one company where I was the QA engineer. The product was signage. Signs for such companies as McDonalds, Burger King, Wells Fargo, etc. We noticed a lack of color consistency in one production line that formed decorated plastic inserts. The production supervisor for that line strenuously objected to our rejections and C&CAs for color nonconformities. He said repeatedly that he "couldn't see anything wrong with the signs."

Later we found out he was colorblind. The black/white variety. 8)

OK, deal. Since quality humor isn't appreciated, no more jokes. And no jokes about "quality", please...

ugh! Frontpage 8-[ . I keep forgetting that most people don't leave webpage design up to us professionals that can do it in notepad.

Yup new bumpersticker.

Wow! It was like going back to the '70s visiting that site. Crazy colour scheme, man - and pass me a glass of Watney's Red Barrel.

Second thoughts - don't.

Yeah, I Hear ya' ...

Actually, I'm Just a Little, Red/Green Colour-Blind, myself.

Proving it's Genetic, my Brother, ALSO, Has a Little Colour-Blindness, But, of The Pastel Variety!

What's Really Rare, Though, Is my Mother, Has a Little Blue-Yellow Colour-Blindness, herself; I'd Absolutely Hate, To See The Mendel Diagram, For that Little, Sexually Determined Allele!!!

If you're gonna be colorblind, that's the colorblindness to have. Pastels. *shudder*

(Mostly joking.)

What's Weird, though, Is I Don't Think, They Have the Same Allele!!

Which Would Mean, My Mother, Is a VERY Rare, Double X, Female Colour-Blind, and My Brother and I, Both Inherited, One of her Bad Genes!!

Unfortunately, It Also Means, Any Female Children I Have, Will Be Red/Green Carriers, But, No Matter ...

Errrrm.... ah! .... but I find it so much easier using Frontpage! Although I do use the design window and tweak the code when necessary.

Maybe I'm not a professional, as I only look after 6 websites at the moment....

But I can use notepad sometimes ... when I have to .... funnily enough I tend to use it when trying to show others the basics of webpages ....

Well admitedly I tend to use MS Interdev (Visual Studio) over notepad these days, but since I'm pure coder often working with ASP, ASPX, XML, and Scripting, I detest what programs like Frontpage and Macromedia do to the code.
