KaiYeves, I have to admit that I was kind of confused by your statement, I kept looking for where someone in this thread called you something bad. I'm guessing that someone on the Education Forum called you a Nazi - is that correct? (I didn't more than glance at that other forum when it was first mentioned)
Jack White was saying in the link that people like us are the "n" word.

That may be just the way you interpreted it. I took it as he was trying to insult (he also mentioned clowns) the members of that forum who disagreed with him.

In any case, consider the source.

I see!

And here I thought it was someone at school :P. It seemed so out of character for that to be a random comment. Now it makes sense. I agree with all of the aboves with it being both insulting and complimentary at the same time.

I watched "Thank You for Smoking" last night. Great film if I may say so myself, and has everything to do with the topic at hand. No one actually smokes in the movie, but the main character makes a good point while teaching his son how to debate. The main character is a lobbyist for big tobacco, and is explaining to his son what he does and why. After being verbose about the right to choose, the son is still confused HOW his dad sells people on something so bad for them. They are eating ice cream and the following [paraphrased] conversation takes place. We will break in part way through:
Quote:
Dad: "I don't have to prove I'm right [about vanilla ice cream being the best], I just have to show that you aren't". [right about chocolate being the best]

Son: "But you still haven't convinced me...?.?..." [about vanilla being the best ice cream]

Dad: "It's not you I'm after son, it's them." [and gestures to the crowds around]

At which point the son's face lights up. A few minutes later they are on a ride eating vanilla ice cream.
It's a fictional story, but a very true proverb.

We may not convince the Jack Whites and Bart Sibrels of the world, but feel we should meet them if we want to stem their tide and keep people from following them. That doesn't mean miles long threads (usually, sometimes it does), but it does mean we need to be vigilant and counter them when things like this crop up. Once their initial tirade is over, ignore it for a while until it pops up elsewhere. We'll never put the fires out, but I think as people, teachers, humans, and BlABBers we should keep watch that they don't spread too far. Even if they do spread, we can have put out all the tools for others to put out the fire in themselves. At times that is the most we can do.

It's not them we're after (though that would be nice), it's everyone else. Carry on!

And some consider it a perfectly acceptable nickname.

Jack White is back, and loudly displaying his ignorance.

First, he makes claims that Mt Hadley was different in three images - two from Apollo 15, and one from Apollo 17! He then wipes out all evidence of his error, and makes a new claim that Mt Hadley was different in two images... by comparing Mt Hadley with Swann Range!

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/in...howtopic=13755

He then bales out of the thread, and starts a new one regarding.. you guessed it, Mt Hadley. The new claims are that images show mounts rounded and smooth, whereas orbital images show "jagged mountains".

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/in...7&#entry159257

His lack of ability with respect to image analysis and basic selenology is astounding.

Presented for your amusement...

I'm a Mod at the Education forum, where Jack is largely seen as a joke. He bangs on and on about 911, moon landings, the Zapruder film, chem trails without ever offering a smidgeon of hard evidence and his refusal to respond to "trolls"(read people who have rebutted his "evidence") Evan, Len Colby, Craig Lamson and many others have ripped his ridiculous claims to peices over and over again. best to let the old Boy mumble to himself in the sick ward. Just my opinion.

Have to say I look in on that forum, not a member. Easy to see what is what.

Hahahahahahah! More Jack White "logic":

"I did not present this as a UFO.

I presented it as an UNIDENTIFIED flying object."
