Default New Jack White Photo at Education Forum

For the life of me I can't figure out what he finds wrong with this picture:

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/in...showtopic=4645

I guess because he doesn't know what the object is, it automatically follows that "these objects have no apparent purpose related to the mission."

Since his 9-11 expose didn't generate the buzz he expected, it would seem he's trolling for hits.

The pod is missing its foil in the back.
And the "objects" are exacly that foil.

I don't think so. That foil is a gray color (check the other pad in the picture).

I think it is a piece from the equipment bay Neil is working in.

Never mind, I found it at ALSJ:<P>

"To the right of Buzz, and underneath the Descent Stage is a shield to protect the landing radar from the heat of the Descent Engine."

It shows that NASA had insulation problems back in Apollo days. Why didn't they fix that? 8)

I'm wrong again. Further reading the same section (ahem!):

Note the object next to the minus-Z (east) strut. As noted by Journal Contributor Markus Mehring, at the end of Buzz's transmission at 110:52:20 when he says "gradual sideways hops", we see him working at the SEQ Bay and discarding the object to his right. As noted above, the object ends up next to the minus-Z east strut. Contributor Paul Fjeld writes that the discarded object is ":a small sheet of 5-mil, aluminized kapton with two little handles that covered the door-deployment tapes."]

Sorry

That "seems" a bit of a stretch...NASA would have had a "problem" with the landing radar if it hadn't been insulated.

...and you "use" that point, as a connection to this point...

Which I "assume" is in regards to the current Shuttle problems...and the assumption that NASA didn't "fix" something that they knew was a problem.

With this many assumptions, I seriously don't have a clue as to where to start to answer your question.

Aluminized Kapton is dull gray on one side (the aluminum side) and golden or bluish on the other (the Kapton side) depending on which formulation of Kapton is used.

Does anybody have a reasonably good picture of that part of the LM prior to opening of the SEQ? Maybe one from before the launch? I've looked for one that would put the piece in context and I haven't been able to find one.

There is some 'classic' Jack White coming up in that thread. I though some here might enjoy it:

"Nice try, but I don't buy it. Most of the LSJ is a work of fiction,
and this fiction isn't close to what is seen in the photos."

"Apollo photographs are FAKED, therefore the RECORD of the photography is FAKED.

It would be stupid to say the Apollo Surface Journal is genuine since the photos are NOT. It is logical to consider the written record fiction since it is written about imaginary events which did not take place."

You know, in a way, this makes me really glad I don't know Jack.

Well, after looking at the picture and reading this thread, it's apparent to me that Mr. White doesn't know "Jack" either!

Dave Greer seems to have succeeded.

I appreciate Jack is full of it, and that Dave has demonstrated him wrong. I'd just like to ask people - if they have the time and facilities - to also recreate the images. If anyone is in a location where there is a LM on display in the open, that would be absolutely ideal. If you are in such an area, please recreate the images Jack says are impossible. Please also, if you post them here, state that you have not altered / photoshopped them in any way. I know this seems tedious, but like Jay I want to cover every base these people try to play.

But see, that's the wrong approach.

Jack White et al. will keep you spinning with this or that ad hoc revision for as long as you're willing to play the game. Yes, I agree that there is considerable satisfaction in deluging White with dozens of couterexamples to his claims. But as you've seen, he'll simply dismiss them and pose his next challenge, always avoiding his own burden of proof.

My photos, that Jack White and John Costella said were "impossible," have been published for years. White's only method of addressing them was an unsubstantiated affirmative rebuttal, that they were "faked." That doesn't create much of an obligation to continue acquiescing to his demands. And as long as he controls the debate in that fashion, he will appear to prevail (or at least appear not to fail).

When people like Jack White ask for evidence, you can be sure that evidence is actually the last thing they want.

Umm.

Not to downplay what he did, but what does that have to do with this particular thread?

Meanwhile, my sympathies.

That totally threw me for a loop too.
Scratchin' my head..
Then I scrolled up to see if I had missed something...

Then I debated if I should really ask about it or not...

NOW I'm laughing.

Yes. I bet it's just as bad for Bart Sibrel to be called "Butt Sibrel" by people he doesn't know.
