I once got off a connecting flight and was met by reporters who informed us that a fatal airline crash had occurred in the ice and snow at our destination, and wanted to interview us about our thoughts about going on. They skipped over me, probably because they read my reaction immediately, and focussed on a young woman alone who assured them she was OK--a few minutes later, in a corner of the waiting room, they had her bent over and sobbing. The TV crew's action wasn't just immature, it should be criminal.

Sorry, but anyone who gets in someone's face and calls them a liar like Sibrel did deserves whatever they get. I would've done the same thing. So would a high percentage of people. Actions like Sibrel's can and should have consequences.

If Sibrel had backed off, I'd agree with you. If Sibrel had not followed him, pushing and pushing, I'd agree with you. If Aldrin had not been trying to get his daughter away from Sibrel, who was not letting him, I'd agree with you. Bart Sibrel provoked the confrontation he got, and after he got it, his first words were to his cameraman, and they were, "Did you get that?" He got exactly the reaction he wanted.

You don't see it in that clip but Sibrel had followed Buzz and his daughter out of the building, into the street and back and was going to chase him as long as they could, badgering him and calling him names the whole time. It's not like poor Bart walked up to him and stuck a bible out and got punched. Buzz had a right to get mad.

And that was Sibrel's own camera crew.

You really need to watch the whole sequence. He justifiably felt trapped. He was surrounded by this tubby fellow (I weigh more than Bart so this is not an adhom) and his minions and he had his daughter there too. He felt trapped. I felt trapped and badgered just watching it. I think you expect these guys to be superhuman. They aren't. Above average, yes. Superhuman, no.

Well, if that is what is meant (and that does sound reasonable) it isn't clear to me what that would have to do with the original complaint:

"Buzz Aldrin's physical response was immature and should not be condoned."

That is, the original complaint was about Aldrin's specific response, rather than the idea that he responded to Sibrel's provocation.

That's what I thought, but then I saw this next video of him on Larry King. He doesn't seem to be passing it off as space junk or something else. I don't want to say for sure that he believes he saw an alien spacecraft, but he almost seems like that's what he might be believing. I was wondering if anyone knows what it could be?

Actually, I deferred to Buzz Aldrin. He used the word "pugged" in one interview I saw. I like the word. The audience applauded.

I'm sure Buzz could have shown more restraint, but this was not the only incident.

This incident had already escalated even before the encounter. This was the third ambush. Already he was called to the hotel on false pretenses. And; I gather from the early dialog that Sibrel was already served with a lawsuit.
