The moon is the closest celestial body to earth… why don’t we turn a little piece of human technological marvel like the Hubble Telescope and point it towards the moon and just start taking pictures!

There are two or more very convincing objects on the moon that could prove everything, the bottom portion of the Looner Lander and our grand Red White and Blue (maybe even some foot prints).

I don’t know how feasible or capable the Hubble is but I understand it takes picture of galaxies hundreds or thousand of light years away, so the moon should be a walk in the park.

Not sure if this would turn skeptics into believers… but I wouldn’t mind seeing it just to strengthen my beliefs and to ease any doubts I may have.

Let me know what you think

Hubble can actually photograph galaxies billions of light years away. However, these objects subtend much larger angles than Apollo artifacts remaining on the moon (6 LM descent stages, 3 lunar rovers).

You can see with your own eyes the Andromeda galaxy at more than two million light years away, unaided, but can you see an ant at a hundred yards?

Your not the first to suggest this. Unfortunately, hardware from Apollo that was left behind and footprints are too small to resolve, even for Hubble. Telescopes are limited by their optics. Hubble can see objects such as galaxies further away because they're much larger and much brighter.

Do not despair. There are probes that are due to be sent to lunar orbit to take pictures among other things they may have the resolving power for the Apollo landing sites. However, the hoax believers don't even believe the Apollo photos taken directly on the surface of the moon! I can't imagine them believing in photos taken from orbit.

It'd be cool to see the Old Glory up there but I suspect the flag has probably disintegrated by now. Nylon doesn't do well in UV. What a shame.

There is also the problem of trying to resolve these objects against a backdrop that is just as bright.

Even if it were possible i`ll bet some HB would just say "well hubble is all part of NASA's big conspiracy so of course it would spot the LM ,oh by the way because they`re nasa photos they`re fakes.."

Welcome Zmora.

Here's the last conversation we had on this topic. It should answer most of your questions.

The hubble is not powerful enough to view the lander. I have seen a few pictures arounf the net of the moon where debris was found in the corresponding place on the moon as the landers.

A telescope would need to resolve something quite a bit smaller than the lander in order that it be recognizable. Just because something shows up in a picture doesn't do much good if it's only a pixel or two in size.

Can we see Apollo hardware on the moon?
