I'll comment after you've had a chance to look at it.

Great find! - Thanks Gastown.

Mr. Bohn has done a good job of providing simple everyday photographic examples that the "anomalies" so often revered to by the Twinkies aren't really anomalous at all.

Excellent! It ranks right up there with Ian Goddard's photo recreations. I especially like his re-creation of the Apollo 14 photo.

The tone of the page is also good. Subtle humor and puns make for entertaining reading. Overall a very good site. I sure hope he continues to add to it. I'm looking forward to more.

I like it.

You might want to replace the Apollo 14 photo with the original NASA photo.

http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/Hi...14-68-9486.jpg

In this photo, you can see Al Shepard's shawdow and it has a similar angle shadow angle as the rocks.

Nice job indeed, both in the work and in the presentation. A nice demonstration of the scientific method by an "amateur", too. I've emailed my attaboy already to Mr. Bohn.

You're right, it's my website. I just wanted to get some objective comments before saying too much about it. But now that I've received rave reviews (so far!) I'd like to thank those who posted such nice comments. And for those who want to flame the site, well, thank you for proving it's still a free country.

Jrkeller, I'd studied as14-68-9486 but hadn't noticed before that thin slanted shadow of Al Shepard. Thanks for pointing it out. It does alter my theory somewhat, although I still think rising ground plays a part in affecting the LM's shadow. It just goes to show how shadows can play tricks on uneven ground, and the danger of drawing hasty conclusions from jpegs. I'll be posting an update soon (along with the correct spelling of Shepard!)

You can see this is not a full-blown debunk site -- that would be too ambitious, and there's no point repeating the efforts of people more qualified than I. I call it a "poor man's Ian Goddard site," using simpler equipment and far less skill so that anyone can duplicate the experiments.

The site's been several years in the thinking and making, and I'm still tweaking it. Besides rooting out typos and trying to improve the aesthetics, I have several more "illusions" to add, along with a number of diatribes to post in my spare moments. If anyone finds any error in fact or simpler explanations than my theories, please let me know.

Gastown, I really enjoyed your site, too - moreso because it was from a fellow Canadian.

Because, like, we're totally objective, eh?

I especially liked the use of Dark Moon as your model of the LM! Good job!

As a non-techinically-minded individual, I found your photographic experiments to be most revealing.

I remember seeing from another sight a video-clip from the moon where one astronaut went over to a boulder. The boulder did not look that big at first, but as the astronaut got closer and closer to it, all of a sudden the boulder became huge (once you could see a side-by-side comparison). It's weird, but somehow on the moon, perceptions and distances and everything like that are very deceiving.

Thanks for the photo analysis!

What's really interesting about all of this is that it didn't take any real detailed scientific knowledge to create the photos. However, when you ask an HB to create a set that supposedly mimics the multiple light sources, etc (the usual old worn our claims), they can't do it.

Hello! I'm a newbie to this board, having just found it from one of the Bad Astronomy pages. (Specifically, the lovely piece about Bart Sibrel getting punched right in the kisser by Buzz Aldrin.)

I've bookmarked your website, Gastown, and it looks very interesting! I've been collecting websites disproving the stupid "moon hoax" for a while, and your excellent site makes a fine addition. It's especially nice to find a site that has so many recreations of the supposed "anomalies", demonstrating quite beautifully how non-anomalous they are.

Great website, Gastown! It is well written, and explains your methodology for reproducing the pics well. Like the way you put your fiducils just as a crosshatch of hairs for better overlap possibilities.

I did have one comment. In the Apollo 14 picture, it is clear that the near camera rocks are on a slight rise, with a low spot behind where the shadows fall. This contributes to the sloping of the shadows. Your other observations about the LM and terrain obscuring the shadow are good, but don't discount the plainly obvious.

Also good your qualifications and your diatribe.

Well done! Congrats!
There is a nice site onthe subject in German at http://www.mondlandung.pcdl.de/ who also uses some self-made photographs to show some "irregularities" are not irregular at all.

That looks like a great site too. Someone proficient in German oughta contact him and offer to help putting up an English-language version. I'm sure it would be most educational.

I was able to guess the meaning of this phrase at least:

Argumente der Verfechter der Mondlandungslüge

Moonlanding sludge. HB sounds even better in German.

Good job, Gastown!

Unfortunately, I notice on your About Me page that you don't work for NASA, so obviously your work carries no credance whatsoever.

Hmm, in that case you'd better get a NASA job real quick, so your page can instead be considered conspiracy propoganda.

Well, I worked a summer in a plant that once furnished paper cups for the Mission Control cafeteria. Does that count?

Hey, Gastown, have you considered submitting your site to Crank.net? In case you don't know about it, it's a clearing house for kooks, linking to pages both pro and con. Your site would fit right in there. I'd do it for you, but I'm thinking I should give the actual author the option to submit it first.

Yeah, I like crank.net, found a lot of great stuff there.

I haven't publicized my site yet 'cause I'm still working on it, might change the appearance some more. Plus I need to do more work on the A14 shadows. I feel as if I'm preparing a case for a trial -- have to make the arguments as bulletproof as I can.

Anyway, I have some more experiments in the works as soon as we get some good picture-taking weather. At the moment we have great weather for writing.
