Gang,

Can anyone tell me or point me to a source concerning the ultimate fate of the blueprints and industrial tooling that were used to build the S-V? I have heard conflicting reports from different people that they were preserved and others that said they were destroyed. All of it hearsay and 2nd-3rd hand data. I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to find out. I realize that the S-V was built by LOTS of subcontractors and so data might not be available. I tried some contacts at Boeing but they so far haven't found much. Thanks

As far as the blueprints are concerned, they should be located at Marshall Space Flight Center.

"Paul Shawcross, from NASA's Office of Inspector General, came to the agency's defense in comments published on CCNet -- a scholarly electronic newsletter covering the threat of asteroids and comets. Shawcross said the Saturn 5 blueprints are held at the Marshall Space Flight Center on microfilm.

"The Federal Archives in East Point, Georgia, also has 2,900 cubic feet of Saturn documents," he said. "Rocketdyne has in its archives dozens of volumes from its Knowledge Retention Program. This effort was initiated in the late '60s to document every facet of F 1 and J 2 engine production to assist in any future restart."
