Dunno if this better fits in here or under babbling. In any case its a retarded conspiracy theory so this seems a better fit anyway.

![]() I remember reading a few years ago that New Orleans was the most overweight city in the US. Must be all that fine Cajun and Creole food!

I love this part of the article: "In an interview by WWL TV, Mayor Nagin complained vociferously that Louisiana National Guard Blackhawk helicopters were being stopped from dropping sandbags to plug the levee soon after it breached. There is evidence that no repairs were allowed on the levee until after New Orleans was totally flooded!"
Apparently, Mayor Nagin is unable to comprehend how difficult it is to plug a breeched levee while the water is still rushing through. The sandbags were simply being swept away by the rushing water. |

Hehe- I love the incompetence of Nagin and his pathetic, yet dangerous racial theories.
Clearly Katrina and the FEMA response must be the evolution of racial genocide. After all, it worked so well when Whitey came up with HIV/AIDS in the 1960's to wipe out all blacks and homosexuals... |

There is also the CT in circulation that asserts NOLA levees protecting lower-income areas were intentionally blown to reduce pressure on those protecting the more affluent neighborhoods. I think we are in the era now that any large catastrophe or attack will be accompanied by kooky (and sometimes dangerous) theories from a vocal fringe element. Learn to live with it.
The second gunman. Lunar flags blowing in the breeze. 757s with attached missile pods. They are all shades of the same.

If you think THAT conspiracy theory is bad, I heard a worse one.
One guy was claiming that the tsunami was caused by the Jews. I was doubly insulted, since I am Jewish. It is also an outrageous compliment, as human beings do not possess the capability to cause a tsunami of that size. Nukes would have simply vaporized the water. The problem was the scourge of Western civilization, red tape. Bush acknowledged this in his humblest appearance yet.

Consider the finger pressure used to pull the trigger of a 300 rifle. Slight! But the impact of the bullet can down the largest elk at a distance of 500 yards. It's a ratio of about 5,000 to 1. There are two problems with this scenario: First, we're just not that good at knowing fault conditions! We would probably stand a 20:1 chance of getting it wrong (wrong spot, wrong yield), and the result would simply be a "thump." Second, even if we did get it right, the underwater landslide that lead to the tsunami would have been preceeded by a "thump," something detectible on seismographs around the globe. In other words, the "smoking gun." The problem is, there was no smoking gun, and we've no other undetectible technology with which we could have completed this. |

valuable real estate
Considering the people who wound up the worst off - visibly so - generally lived in the poorest, most flood-prone (indeed, promptly re-flooded by Rita) areas of the city - "valuable"? If somebody wanted all that property, it would have been much cheaper just to buy it all outright. Who would want to move in to this area after it was submerged twice in one month? The great thing about being a CT is that you simply don't have to make any concessions to reality. |

I have also heard the theory that the religious right considers New Orleans a city of sin (people dancing naked in Mardi Gras, casinos, etc). These people didn't think Bush was actively trying to do destroy New Orleans, but because of religious right's opinion of the city Bush did not go out of his way to protect it, either. The theory is they would all rather just see it gone. It would also explain why he cut funding to the levee improvement project in the first.
I don't personally buy it myself. Not that it is infeasible, but I just don't think Bush would throw aside his ratings like that. Its practically political suicide, something no politician likes.
