In Clear and Present Danger the oppononts are drugs lords, and there is a Cuban KGB fella involved. The business angle had to do with money laundering IIRC. I don't remember any nazi's in either book or movie. SOAF is islamist extremists in combination with German terrorists, but of the RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion) left variety rather than nazis.

"German" != "Nazi"
I know that and so do you. I get the impression that some people in Hollywood don't know that. While my movie watching has dropped considerably in recent years (I don't pay good money to see junk), I have a hard time recalling many Hollywood movies of the past 20 years or so where a German character was a good person. |

Yes, I like Mr. Prochnow; he's very versatile. He's also done voice-work in several Video games. I hesitated to mention "Das Boot", even though it is an excellent piece of work from all involved due to, I believe, it being German-made like Run, Lola, Run, and not Hollywood.

Getting this very slightly back on topic. The OP reminded me of something I saw in a Conspiracy Magazine ("New Dawn") about the time the X-Files came out in Australia.
It was the editors giving a firm put-down to someone who had sent them a letter describing the series as "dramatized accounts of real but suppressed events". In the next issue they were peddling the same idea for all it was worth.
