Interstate Highway System a Naturally Occurring Geological Phenomenon, Scientist Claims

ANN ARBOR, MI (Disassociated Press) June 29, 2006 – On this date that marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Interstate Highway System, Bartholomew J. Snead, a Professor of Geology at the University of Michigan, introduced a paper at a Geological Consortium at that university which claims that the Interstate Highway System is “a naturally occurring geological phenomenon.” It is commonly believed that most of the Interstate Highway System was built in the 1950s during the Eisenhower Administration.

“It’s a myth that that the freeways are primarily man made constructions – in fact, the giant, narrow, parallel slabs of asphalt, many of them running for thousands of miles, stretching both trans-continentally or from the Canadian to the Mexican borders, have always been there, dating back to the pre-historic era. All the government did back in the 1950s was to paint broken lines down the centers of them, and put up a few road signs.”
When asked what happened to the tax money that had been appropriated for the construction of the system, Sneed responded, “That’s unclear, but one possible explanation is that it was used to develop a plan that would eventually convince a large segment of the population that Caucasian males had actually walked on the surface of the moon.”

well, i guess that pretty much clears THAT up..

Ah, but what about the giant, narrow, parallel (sometimes) slabs of concrete. What's the explanation for their origin? According to the theories promulgated during the early 1960s by Schaeffer and Henri (cit., ibid., et al), these concretes are of extra-terrestrial origin.

You wouldn't have found this on the WWN or The Onion perchance?

Hmm...I35 from Dallas to San Antonio has been torn up for as long as I can remember. The money must be used to cover up the fact that these roads are natural by faking all that construction.

It seems to be from a site called The Disassociated Press. It's the third article down. Bit of a warning, though: the site's riddled with Amazon.com affiliate links (the red and blue ones).

It's definitely a humor site, though.

Many of these highways were laid down before air transport, however strangely they only make sense when seen from above. MacAdam postulates [pers. comm., but see also Hardcore My Arse, that's Meteoric Deposits -, publ. ST911, London, pp 56-74] use as landing sites for extraterrestrial vehicles and notes the similarities to modern aircraft apron, as well as surviving folk memories in Sweden where SAAB defence aircraft are purpordtedly designed to make use of such roads in times of conflict.

I think I found another great humor site to bookmark! It even tops The Onion at times.

BTW, the Amazon affiliate links are just that, links. No graphics. very unobtrusive - the way website advertising should be.
