I have bits of wisdom??...and they're "usual"? How about that!!

However, to be accurate, I did say "The facts are the facts..." back in post #534.

When searching for truth, there will be occasions where we will walk down the same avenues and arrive at the same distinations, so it is really no surprise to find ourselves saying similiar things.

(Hey...that sounds like one of those "bits of wisdom" )

Good work guys. I hope to be on the critical-thinking/debunking bandwagon just as soon as I have reached level 32 in Illuminati initiation and am given my final moderator degree.

Or wait. I wasn't supposed to post that, was I?

Anyhoo. You're making me proud Nothing I really need to add at this point - you guys have it handled pretty well

Svector - nothing wrong with taking the high road. I had to do it in the 300 thread over the weekend, and while somewhat galling, take pride in the fact that you handle yourself with class and do the right thing. At the end of the day, that's something Rogan will never be able to claim

Just a couple of thoughts here, reasonably on topic...

Joe Rogan is a "celebrity." Maybe not A-list, but celebrity. He maintains that status by staying in the public eye. There are some "celebrities" who enjoy that status so much that they will do or say almost anything to hold on to it. That could explain Joe's penchant to use vulgar language, "win" by out-shouting, and voice belief in absurd "theories." It's a classic, "Hey! Everyone look at me!" attitude.

Second, Joe enjoys his celebrity status. He probably cannot understand why anyone would not want the same status. Svector isn't interested in being recognized everytime he leaves his house. Joe cannot understand this and is automatically suspicious of Svector's motives.

Third, who cares what Svector's real name is? He is stating and supporting fact. That would not change no matter what his name. If someone tells you it is raining and you should go inside, you don't stand there getting wet until he has provided his credentials.

Yeah. Thanks for getting rid of them. That rocks, not listing your discoveries in an article. Next time, maybe you can use the preview-post feature to see if a word is disallowed, and then PM your suggestions to an admin or mod.

Edit: As we learn below, getoverit apparently didn't remove the list of some ugly words, as I had assumed.

Actually, I've just noticed that getoverit got quietly banned (presumably for language abuses) at some point since page 14. The banning wasn't logged in the Banned thread as it should have been, hence the apparent confusion here.

A request to the banning mod: the public banning log is valuable to the membership as it reduces confusion and answers the obvious questions about the duration of the sanctions, along with the exact reasoning. Could someone go back and fill in the entry please?

I just looked over the latest "hoax" thread on rogan's board and was pleasantly surprised to find that there are now more posters who don't agree with the Moon hoax "arguments" than there were just a few weeks ago.

Ain't that something.

How about this: pick up an out-of-town paper and check the obituary column. Pick a likely-looking name and announce to Rogan et al that you're him.

Chances are they'd never bother to investigate and find out you're recently deceased. If they did, you could get all righteous and demand they stop demeaning your late father.

Of course, I'm not proposing this seriously, but rather to make a point. What's in a name, anyway? If you'd merely responded to their complaint by saying, "Certainly I'll give you my real name; it's John Pho", there's little chance it would be challenged, or that anyone could prove you're not who you claim to be. Rogan is simply clutching at any straw to discredit you.

I wonder... is Joe Rogan using his real name, or did he adopt a stage name somewhere along the line? A lot of actors do.

I figured. Getoverit's case was fairly clear-cut given the context, but having it in the log means we don't have to go searching for the answer if somebody asks about it in the future. (Happened a lot on the old BABB before the membership started the log.) It actually came up here not that long ago. (I forget who was asking, though...)

Nereid has also found it handy in debunking recent claims about who's gotten banned in ATM and the behaviors that triggered sanctions. An analysis that would not have been possible without accurate records.

I would add it, but I didn't actually do the banning, so I think it would be better for the mod who did to post it, and the specific reason (not that we can't figure it out), for posteritie's sake. Apologies, Moose, I wasn't trying to dodge the question If it doesn't get added today by the mod, I'll do it.

It was certainly a "purposeful" post in my opinion...he knew he'd be banned...I'm surprised he isn't "crowing" about it on rogan's board.

Hmmm, I guess if it can work for voters in Chicago and Dallas, it can work for me eh?

I already told him my name...Alan Smithee. I have the most impressive list of credits of any Hollywood director, as confirmed by the IMDB. I guess he doesn't believe me.

Hmmm. Unknown. I offered to give him my name in exchange for his cell phone number. If he accepts, I'll call him and ask.

I know I'm coming in late, regarding real names and such, so I apologize. One reason I have been absent from these fora for almost 2 years is because I chose to use my real name and started getting nasty e-mails, postal mail, and weird spam related to CT and ATM ideas. I was never specifically threatened, but it made me uncomfortable. After laying low for a few months, the e-mails went away and things stablized. Changes here at work made it "easier" to stay away for so long, but lately I've had better access and time management to allow me to return.

Now, it is my personal feeling that I should continue to use my real name. I don't often have much to say in support of the Apollo record, and I don't understand 99% of what's being "discussed' in ATM; but when I contribute what I do know (digital image processing, remote sensing (NOT REMOTE VIEWING!!) and geographic information science), I want to stand behind it.

But I completely understand Svector's choice.

CJSF

[edited to clarify - I don't have much to SAY supporting the Apollo record - that doesn't mean I don't reason that it happened as documented]
