I'm still too scared to actually watch that thing. Might make good fodder for the Agony Booth though. http://www.agonybooth.com

I will keep that link for a day when I am too overoptimistic about life, the universe and everything.
This will ground me again. For sure.

You must watch it. Its hillarious. when you get struck by the realisation that people take it seriously, you'll experience a sort of out of body experience, then you may find yourself throwing things at the television!

And exactly because of this, I will keep it for those overoptimistic days.

Anyone know how to save this? I know some people who would get a laugh and a half out of this....

Go over to Google Video (where the video is actually hosted) and a swift search for "Fox Apollo" which finds this as the first result then click on the download button in the bar on the right, you will probably need to get the Google Video Player though.

If you click on the "manual download" you will get a .gvp file which contains this URL which is a direct link to the .avi file.

I'll just say I'm not in the targeted demographic, and leave it at that.

I recorded it on VHS back in 2001. It led me to this site.

Meanwhile the tape is probably rewriting itself, due to the effects of the Van Halen belts and the impact of interstellar dust, cosmic rays, and, in the case of BS, comic rays.

Sorry to bring this up, but the comments by Brian O'Leary (5:17-) that a hoax was possible, have then been dealt with here or on Clavius?

Thanks for that

Can not think why I did not use the search facility there as I asked for it

I remembered with the Baron bit

I do have to say though, the way the NASA official was edited, he came across as the hand waver, is this a Fox trick?

And thanks for making me put it in. Normally when I want to find something on the site, I go to my local copy and grep (i.e., search) for it in the raw files. Normal web users can't do that.

I do have to say though, the way the NASA official was edited, he came across as the hand waver, is this a Fox trick?

Hard to say. We haven't seen the raw footage of the interview, naturally. Brian Welch died unexpectedly not long after this program first aired. That alone caused some stir among conspiracy theorists. But Welch was quoted saying he was not pleased with the answers he had given (even before the program aired), so I think some of Welch's lackluster performance might be due to his admitted unfamiliarity with the subject, and some of it due to creative editing such as they did with O'Leary and Paul Fjeld. (I'm told Fjeld threatened to sue for having misrepresented him.)

Technically Fox did not produce the program. It was produced by Nast Entertainment and aired on Fox.

We need you over here in the UK, maybe we could approach the DfES for some grant

Shame about Bob Welch, what happened to him

Oh, I definately don't want it for educational purposes. I have a few freinds who will literally laugh themselves breathless. Purely for comedic value

I have no specific evidence either way. But since the Fox program doesn't follow any of Sibrel's major points (e.g., the "secret" footage) I have a hard time believing that Sibrel was the source. It looks more like Nast based his program on Kaysing's work.

There's more infighting among the major conspiracy authors than the average reader knows. I talk to people who try to arrange interviews with them for mass media, and their stories about dealing with them are sometimes quite educational. It's entertaining to hear about who won't appear with whom, and who accuses whom privately of having stolen his material. I bring this up because it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Sibrel had absolutely nothing to do with the Fox program and is trying to grab credit for it.

Fox has all but disowned it. When Fox took over distributing Mark Gray's excellent DVD sets, he told me they felt it was in partial atonement for having aired the conspiracy program. Apparently what they felt would be the next Alien Autopsy phenomenon turned into a major black eye.

Funny you mention that. I just watched a movie called 'Alien Autopsy', based on that hoax. It's supposed to be a fairly accurate account of the events leading up to Santilli's release of the film. He now acknowledges that he and his friends created the footage, but as a face-saver, he stipulates that they *had* to fake it because the original (ostensibly genuine) reel disintegrated shortly after the can was opened, and it was exposed to air. Supposedly this production was meant to be a faithful reproduction of the footage he actually viewed.

How convenient.

Erm, I'm with you. Where is/ was the reel that disintegrated then? Surely it wouldn't have totally disintegrated immediately upon opening? What type of film was it? etc, etc, etc......

Hmmmm, must have been special MIB cellulose for it to do that. As far as I know, the film bases in the 1940's would still be fine today even in shoddy storage conditions. Heck they just showed the first ever feature film, The Story of the Kelly Gang, here. It was made in 1906, and was destroyed after being banned, however enough copies (made up until 1920) survived that they were able to piece it back together and restore it. With film from the 1900-20's surviving the passage of time, how could one from the 1940's just disintergrate when you open the can?

It's worse than that. What mechanism would make film from the 1940s work perfectly well when you first opened the can, put it on a film projector, ran it through a few times; then magically disintegrate when you opened the can to show it to critical third parties? That pesky film chose just exactly the most convenient moment to disintegrate without a trace. Not so prematurely that its contents couldn't be viewed by the one guy who proposes to sell it to you, but soon enough to keep it from reasonable scrutiny by third parties.

It's like the kid who comes home from school with an official-looking report card that shows all A's. Then when his mom hears from the clerk at the local Kinko shop that her son was in there pasting up bogus report cards, he tells her the real one was destroyed in a freak accident involving a DC-10, a rubber band, and half a tube of lilac-scented hair gel. But the grades were the same. He swears. Honest.

Come on -- at least Santilli could respect our intelligence and tell us his dog ate it.

I'll watch this under one condition: Someone on this forum does a full-length, profanity laden "commentary track" in the style of MST3K and uploads it as an MP3 for all to hear. It's too bad that show isn't around anymore. I can already imagine the nervous breakdown Tom Servo would have when he couldn't take the monumental stupidity any longer.

I wouldn't be able to do it for a week or two though

It's a bit like that singing frog.

You mean this one? This paragraph from the article applies well to this thread.
Quote:
The gag in both cartoons is that Michigan's undeniable talent is discovered by some hapless (and greedy) person, who has visions of making a fortune by finding this great entertainer an audience and profiting from it. He invests all his time, money and eventually his sanity in that cause. He catches on too late that the frog will perform for him and him alone; in front of anyone else, Michigan will turn back into a normal frog and thwart the man's dreams of wealth.
I have this great mental image of the alien corpse sitting up, donning a top hat, and singing "Hello, my baby; hello, my honey..." If only Mel Brooks hadn't already thought of that.
