And remove all traces of John Denver. Please.

You're not my hero anymore.

It's considered pretentious to display something like a bachelor's degree . . .

I have a friend who's a doctor, and when we were at Purdue he double-majored in history. He has his B.A. in history on his office wall along with all of his other diplomas. I'll have to mention to him that it's pretentious.

And while those people might not want to jump on the Lazar UFO bandwagon, they might let a reporter photocopy their yearbooks if he waved $1,000 check in their faces.

I don't know much about Lazar's. Are there really reporters who would pay that much to validate his credentials?

LOL, please do!

But seriously, it's not universally pretentious of course. In fact, in many professions the display of one's professional credentials, certificates, and associated diplomas is expected as a sort of vote of confidence. I would expect a doctor to frame his M.D. diploma prominently over his desk. Academic credentials are highly important in that field.

In other cases a baccalaureate diploma is a common enough possession that to see it displayed prominently almost asks if there's a good story behind it. No one in my field displays their bachelor's diploma in their offices; we've all got one, so what's the point?

No offense intended to anyone who proudly displays his diploma. You earned it.

Are there really reporters who would pay that much to validate his credentials?

I think it would depend on how much they'd already published assuming he was legitimate.

Perhapse if I put it up next to framed copies of my past due utility bills and the like, it could serve as some sort of PSA for neighborhood kids.

Yeah I know, but that doesn't stop the association with the 30-minute steroid commercial that was American Gladiators from coming to my head every time I see it spelled out. In fairness, my mind generally makes extreemely obscure associations with a lot of things. G/F says it gives me that wierd sense of humor that is so charming. I just say it's a biproduct of my ADHD.

Ah, American Gladiators...

For people who like pro wrestling, but have trouble following the plot.

And she does so because of the articles, not the pictures...
