Default This made me laugh...

I couldn't help but laugh at this from the Education Forum. It's from a post by Mr Duane Daman, who is a Jack White supporter. He all but lays these traits at the people who debunk Jack's nonsense:

Quote:
Twenty-Five Rules of Disinformation

1. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil

2. Become incredulous and indignant

3. Create rumor mongers

4. Use a straw man

5. Sidetrack opponents with name calling, ridicule

6. Hit and Run

7. Question motives

8. Invoke authority

9. Play Dumb

10. Associate opponent charges with old news

11. Establish and rely upon fall-back positions

12. Enigmas have no solution

13. Alice in Wonderland Logic

14. Demand complete solutions

15. Fit the facts to alternate conclusions

16. Vanish evidence and witnesses

17. Change the subject

18. Emotionalize, Antagonize, and Goad

19. Ignore facts, demand impossible proofs

20. False evidence

21. Call a Grand Jury, Special Prosecutor

22. Manufacture a new truth

23. Create bigger distractions

24. Silence critics

25. Vanish

Eight Traits of The Disinformationalist

1. Avoidance

2. Selectivity

3. Coincidental

4. Teamwork

5. Anti-conspiratorial

6. Artificial Emotions

7. Inconsistent

8. Newly Discovered: Time Constant
The first section is almost a precis of Jack's typical behaviour!

1.1 1.7 and 1.15 almost define formulating a conspiracy theory, so I don't see his point...

(edit because I typed the wrong number)

I only lurk at the EF, but Jack and Duane's self deception is truely amazing. Even Rocky at Apollohoax (who used to post here as DavidC I believe) shows more analytical skill. How they can be so blind to their own behavior, to the beam of wood in their own eye, is astounding.

Every time Duane or Jack posts there you should preface your reply with a categorization based on this list. Let everyone know who the true disinformationists are. From my observations most of Duane's posts start with a 2, move on to a 4, always include an 8 where Jack is involved, and always include a 5, a 7, a 20, a 22, and a 23 with an overlying atmosphere of 18 and 19. One could only wish that the two of them would pull a permanent 25 with regards to the web and vanish.

Jack likes to pull a #25 from the threads where he's been proven wrong, wait a week or two, then post a new thread. He generally won't even reply to them if you bump them specifically asking him for a reply. You can even get him to disapear from threads he's still active in by bumping one of the others, he has to disapear from the forum entirely to make it appear he doesn't see them.

It's funny that you bring up Rocky. Over at apollohoax he actually linked to that same list. I guess it's making the rounds.

As for 1.10, yes, we do that. However, if they'd post something that isn't old news, we wouldn't.

And if they didn't discuss things happening 40 years ago, old news may have less relevance to the discussion...

Duane "straydog" Daman cutting and pasting someone else's work instead of thinking for himself? Well there's a surprise.

Jack White's logic escapes me...

Quote:
The Apollo photographs are FAKED.

Therefore the file numbers identifying them are FAKED.

Therefore the "official documentation" supporting the photos is FAKED.

Therefore FILE NUMBERS AND DOCUMENTATION ARE IRRELEVANT TO
WHAT IS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS.

maybe this list should be "adopted" here as a form of shorthand.
every time someone comes here with a "new" conspiracy, someone could say "great, another #13, but with a tinge of #14 thrown in for good measure".. and just move on..

when did "vanish" become transitive?

Must be a #9 or 22...

@ phantomwolf: with 1.1 1.7 and 1.15 defining conspiracy theories, I was talking pure objective only. If you declare a conspiracy theory, even if your reasoning is perfect, the evidence solid and the conspiracy theory is the truth, you are doing 1.1 1.7 and 1.15, so I don't see the point in listing them as bad things for the other camp. I don't tknow what is meant exactly with 1.22, but per definition proposing a new conspiracy theory also is a 1.22. UNless they mean "cheating, forging history" with "manufacturing", in which case objectively speaking 1.22 is no defining part of a conspiracy theory.

I agree that the typical CT'er uses a lot more than 1.1 1.7 and 1.15.

Edit: I see now why it wasn't clear: I meant 1.7 and 1.15 instead of 1.1 and 1.15.
