Frankly, I don't think they have hypotheses, either. A hypothesis is also based on some sort of evidence, or at least some sort of expectation of what the answer will be--and you must be willing to have it proven wrong.

Yeah, not theory or hypothesis. I'd say conjecture, but that suggests acknowledged uncertainty and a willingness to be persuaded otherwise.

How about dogma? a point of view or tenet put forth as authoritative without adequate grounds

That would make them Conspiracy Dogmatists. But, CDs is taken.

Okay, so how about we try "Conspiracy Suppositionists" (if you ignore Dictionary.com's definition of Supposition)
Quote:
sup·po·si·tion /ˌsʌpəˈzɪʃən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[suhp-uh-zish-uhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. the act of supposing.
2. something that is supposed; assumption; hypothesis.

More seriously, I prefer "conspiracy fantasy". It seems to cover all the nuances.

Conspiracysts works for me. When we ban one, we can refer to it as conspirasectomy.

But then the burden of proof is on you to prove that they're fantasizing. I'd rather go with "conspiracy believers", it's less accusatory, and it sounds less dismissive and snap-judgemental than the term "fantasists". (I know it's not a snap judgement, and you know it, but the general masses who think of "intellectuals" as smug and judgemental will see it in the worst possible light.)

I prefer to act all snooty and know-it-all-esque. (but not really, particularly since I so often make it very apparent that I do not know it all ).

That isn't hard, because I know the truth. The underpants gnomes did it. All of it.

I like "conspiracy fantasy" too.

Goes along with fantasies about convicted pirates and whatnot.
