Hi there,
I've said as much (and a good deal worse) elsewhere - but be careful of the personal slurs on this board

IMO, Richard C. is not a con artist. He sincerely believes this stuff, and thinks he's on a grand crusade to expose the truth. I've heard him enough on Art Bell (Noory or whatever now) to make that judgement.

It's hard to tell with some of that cast of characters. Take Ed Dames. I can't decide if he really believes or is just having fun making it up. He says things that can be interpreted as he's sort of laughing internally while trying to hold a staight face. But other times, he sounds like he believes it.

The all-time best tall tale ever spun on Art was "Mel's Hole", the sequel. Part I was pretty good, but the second one took the cake. Get a tape of that one -- it's just about the best "fish story" I've ever heard. I'd give the details, but it would spoil it.

I vote con-artist. No one clever enough to make money out of it would be stupid enough to believe it.

Default RCH's newest "revelation".

Looks like Richard Hoagland and Mike Bara (http://www.lunaranomalies.com/) have a new and startling "revelation" about NASA. Well, at least they have a new book to sell, anyway.

http://www.darkmission.net/ (Click on the entertaining introduction).

Then, in this extremely ironic choice of venue, (http://www.wisdomfestival.com/hoaglandpost.html), RCH is introduced thusly:

"Richard C. Hoagland — with stunning, official photographic evidence, from scores of NASA and USSR solar system missions, including the manned missions to the Moon — will reveal, on the eve of the publication of his major new book (with Mike Bara) — the “Secret History of NASA” — exactly how many lies the people have been told…. And why, suddenly, the United States — and almost a dozen other nations on this planet — are in a secret, “second space race” to be the first to return to the Moon — before the mythic date of “2012.”"

Yawn.......

I feel compelled to make a parody of that websites' intro, for whatever reason.

Published by Feral House!? He's proud of this?

...might as well had gone with CafeePress.

On the up side, we have yet another book to use as emergency toilet paper.

I have this theory that one day, about thirty years ago, an evil mutant mugged RCH as he was walking home, erased all of his memory and told him "You are a crazy, inconsiderate conspiracy theorist. All anyone else tells you you previously did is a lie."
Oh, hello, scary guys in dark glasses and suits. How did you get into my house without...

A Hoaglandite presented some of this is "evidence" over at SDC. Basically two different poor quality reproductions of preproductions of a Zond 3 image show what looks like a a glass "tower" and a glass "dome". Both, if reallu, are 10's to 100's of km across

The features don't show up on good quality reproductions of the same same image using cleaned up digital data, other images in the sequence collected by Zond 3, or of higher quality images by later probes. Both features are on the visible hemisphereofthe Moon as well, and somhow have escaped centuries of telescopic observation.

As is usual in such "discussions", meaningful concepts of evidence and its evaluation were in short supply.

For those masochistic enough, the discussion is at http://uplink.space.com/showthreaded...&sb=5&o=0&vc=1, and starts with a post from "ZenonMars" on 07/07/07.

Jon

The MIB let me have a computer and I just want to say that I don't get that, but it sounds funny. Please elaborate.

Don't listen to Coast to Coast, listen to FM Star 99.9 in Massachusets, Connecticut and Lower New York.
Delilah would kick his butt!

No, I do not consider that Bara has especially acute spatial reasoning skills as applied to photographic interpretation.
Perhaps not, but he and Hoagland certainly have a "gifted" way of fancifully interpreting fuzzy and pixelated images that YOU certainly don't have........

If that is the same Delilah they have broadcasting up here, it would be an interesting contest who would annoy me sooner.
