Go to your local bookstore and take a look around the occult or astrology section, or even the bestseller rack, and then ask again the question whether it takes intelligence on the part of an author to get a book published.
I can name a number of on-air personalities who are on the air precisely because they are obnoxious, abrasive personalities. Call-in programs are for entertainment purposes, and people with strong, poorly-conceived opinions make for great entertainment. Ratings determine revenue, and whatever it takes to get people to tune in and improve the ratings is what a station will pursue, even if it's people who are willing to say outrageous things. People such as Richard Hoagland are the modern-day equivalents of the bearded lady and the goat with the five legs and two heads, or the woman who turns into a gorilla. The carnival midways of yore are simply replaced with a high-tech freak show that features oddities of cognition instead of oddities of physical development. Hoagland simply bites the metaphorical head off the intellectual chicken and then laughs all the way to the bank while we squirm. To the man who has nothing else, chicken-neck doesn't taste all that bad. |

"Controversial Knowlege" is code for "this stuff is so nuts, we wouldn't put it in any other part of the bookstore."

Saw a copy of this in Borders. Thumbed thru it - came to a page where he claimed NASA was altering colours of pictures from Mars because the NASA logo comes out red in some MER images, shook my head, and put the book down.
10 seconds - that's all it takes to find out the truth behind that particularly unusual ( at face value ) imaging feature. If he doesn't even go to those lengths to research his material - then I'm sorry - he can not possibly be serious about the rest of it. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread30048/pg1 |

I have just watched the rise of the Silver Surfer and have spotted what Richard missed. There is a new physics just around the corner and the sun as we know it is not as we know it. The main problem is that humans are greedy. No big deal really just our nature. Anyway the sun is more like a planet than a star as we know it. Atmosphere and solid iron ... well make that liquid iron surface. There is life in the pool and that is why for millenia the earth, the entire earth has been viewed as an ark. It takes an enormous amount of trust for a sentient being to trust another, especially as it could really only view us as ants and hostile to each other at that. There is no illuminati ... it means "Illuminated One". The sun is alive and is full of life. That is why the surface is so much cooler than the atmosphere. The heat is internal through great solar-logical (I could hardly use geo) processes. One can not look upon the face of the Illuminated One, well it all makes sense ... your eyes burn out and then what is the use of having an opposable thumb. One might consider a candidate like Jupiter but over the next few centuries there will be great minds able to clearly see what is needed. Our thoughts and creative processes have been coerced, guided not manipulated to bring us to a position to make this all possible. Alchemists have traditionally used mercury to try and understand the meaning behind a silver metallic messenger. Greed of course saw gold as a better opportunity. The fires ... the ones we need to avoid, yeah well they are not great for carbon based lifeforms. There is a reason for all this, the transition period is fairly catastrophic over the next few years but not the end. In some way having so many on the planet is viewed as a waste of resources ... so it is a race between increasing intelligence through stress as one would field test a lab rat or seeing if connection through creative minds can be achieved. The sun is real and in many layers and a planet of sorts. Just as we have a silica layer it has iron. Further down the elements are heavier and the radiation is some of what powers the Sun and provides the heavy elements for the CME (coronal mass ejections). That tallies with the heavy metals in space and in the Kuiper belt as it is the interior of the suns constituents that get ejected in the eleven year cycles. Now you know ... and your part in this is to accept the challenge ahead or be bypassed by a lesser number of beings that will do the task. Why the urgency, why now? The Sun is dying.

Are you proposing a discussion about the iron sun idea Michael Noonan?

Seeing as I was not questioning the science I sought to question the question. Do you think I was a bit too far off track then? If so sorry. Michael

You know if you are going to have a bit of fun ... how you lead into it is all important. Now to clear up a few other minor issues. I did not get my physics through in the year 2007 ... every word I have written, I wrote just so it is written (in which case I sincerely hope that someone with writing skills comes along and tidies them up a lot and keeps the ideas current in real language if ever necessary ... they can even take credit for it if they are that brave ) and for the record, my name is Michael.

The "Face" looks kind of like a Rapa Nui Moai in the first panel of that comic.

If that book actually made it onto the NYT best-seller list, I'd probably turn goth from all the pain that sight would cause.
