Don't want anything happening to my friend Mak. Take it easy and drink some tea.

Hope you're up and around soon, Mak. Hey, at least you can still use a keyboard, so you can still come here and be mildly entertained. Pain is just one of those things we learn to live with, but I hope you'll feel better.

This thread was my first taste of "action" against a woo-woo. Since we're making small talk anyway, did I do a good job?

No, I'm a mean teaser

I'm reminded of the "tough but fair" argument. In this argument, you treat your oponent with polite fairness unless they wrong you in some way. You then give back as they do you (politely) but go back to being "fair" as the default. You maintain this, each time giving back as recieved and defaulting to the nice and fair.

It is a technique that builds over time- causing nice guys to finish first

This applies to how you handled MR, You were polite, welcoming and fair. You gave back as good as you got, but defaulted to fair. So I would say you did well

Of course, by then the universe will have grown cold, and she'll have nobody to be mean to.
(Which is why I must show her how it's done first. )

BTW, in your previous avatar, was that you? I'm not sure what your current avatar is all about, but then, my eyes are really bad.

You need to wear your glasses Mak.

My previous avatar isn't me.

I just took it from the net ,"A woman in the rain".

That's a good idea. The current one was in response to that box-office bomb The Invasion. Perhaps I should go back to this one:

Your good wishes are very appreciated. Things are better than last week. Hey, I even got out earlier and watched a Russian satellite go over. Sure beats staring at a ceiling!

That's sweet! Unlike the green tea I've been drinking. An Indian friend recommended that and gave me with a couple week's supply. Different but tasty. Goes well with curried chicken and naan.

Hey Mak, the forum missed you while you were away. One simply has to read your classic humor in the "Amazing Untrue records" thread and other areas to know the kind of a genius you are. I always look forward to reading your posts in particular. So, even if you think I am a snob or whatever, I don't care. I just want to say Welcome back!

More than mildly. The good thoughts and wishes I've received from all the fine folks here have been a big help.

Pain is an interesting topic, as long as one is discussing it as an observer. Amazing how many different approaches the medical profession has to this particular subject. Since I first started having problems back in 2003, I've seen the gamut from how to get rid of pain to how to live with it. I prefer the former but the latter appears to be the one closer to reality.

Oh well, no pain, no gain.

No "genius" stuff involved, just 100% perspiration. Nevertheless, glad you enjoy the posts. Writers should always, among other things, write for the enjoyment of an audience.

Your welcome back is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, guys. My motto is- you'll get what you're given, so if you match blow for blow, you'll both end up in the hospital. Push lightly and wear kid gloves and you'll get that back.
