Please make yourself comfortable. Now
Astronomers gauge brightness in heavenly
bodies by a thing called "magnitude". If
a star is 100 time brighter than another it
is 5 mags greater. So a million times greater
works out as 15 mags. Generally stars have
negative magnitudes which get towards zero
magnitude when brighter.

Thanks for explaining the jargon. I know what you're talking about now: Comet Holmes.

I was confused because I thought some paranoid types had already assigned the brightening to NASA, but I guess maybe not the specific detail you're waiting for: as in topic Comet Holmes paranoia.

Thanks for the link, I musta missed that but
I got to hear of the comet in December
mostly and it seemed strange having a great
outgassing when away from the Sun. It does
not even get very close. Pictures show the
"catherine wheel" effect from a spinning
nucleus. Dont think there has been anything
similar in the last few hundred years but I
may be wrong on that.

Sure. It just happens every dang time we nuke a comet!

Not that we have. Um, I can neither confirm nor deny...

Now, Catherine wheel? Oh, Catherine wheel. I never knew the name. I never even knew St. Catherine was martyred on a wheel. I didn't even know there was a St. Catherine. I'm going straight to Hell, aren't I?

Well, actually Comet Holmes flared up in a similar manner in 1892. We didn't have nukes back then. (Well, maybe the Illuminati had them or the reptilian overlords or maybe the Zetas were just fooling around back then or maybe the Anunnaki were prospecting for gold or something ... )

I remember seeing that effect from Comet Hale-Bopp. There was a video clip of it somewhere on the web. It explained the dust shells seen inside the coma. I have a nice picture at my website showing the resultant shells:

I was going to mention that as well. Of course, conspiracy theorists are never willing to address such facts and only focus on sensationalizing what they think is important.

As long as they drink the Kool-Aid to join their brothers in the trailing ship, that's all that's important!!!
