When he has finished making nice impressions with what I assume would be an electromagnet and not a stainless steel ball of the wrong grade, he could practice with miniature flags to see what happens in a vacuum.

My understanding of what happens in vacuum sealed packages is that the surrounding atmosphere presses inward on the particulates. Since there is no air between the particles, they get pressed very close together, almost like they are a solid rock.

But on moon this wouldn't apply at all. No barometric pressure there.

I guess I still don't get green's point. He's just misunderstanding the physics. If I kicked my boot on the lunar surface, dust would fly off in parabolic trajectories and gently settle out down-range.

That's the short version of it. Problem is, it's hard to convince someone they're wrong when they think they have an infallible understanding of the subject (I don't know Mr. Green's personality, but that's more of a general statement about many HB's).
