Somehow many of the CT's are very surprised when we are not all blinded by their insight and bow down to their superior knowledge.

I guess much in the same way that I'm allways surprised when a CT is debunked with simple, rational facts/proof, but fails to sway the CT'er. It shouldn't be surprising, but sometimes it still is.

Emphasis mine. I think it is the word rational that gets them, it means they have to think about it!

Wheras the CT "information" they have found has just required them to read it and then take it as "the truth" without them having to use any thought process.

Is it me? Or are there now too many people out there who don't want to use that organic material between their ears, in case it wears out/withers/overheats/gets a migraine?

The thing that surprises me every time (though it really shouldn't) is how vanishingly rare it is for the original poster to come back and say, "Thank you for taking the time to address my question." I wouldn't even mind if that was followed by, "I'm still not convinced but you've given me something to think about."

Perhaps there might be a link between lack of courtesy and refusal to consider facts rationally?

I see proof of that on YouTube.

It has proven to me that people can be both terribly amazing and amazingly terrible.

YouTube hasn't proven anything about human nature to me- partly because i don't go there due to being on a 26.4k dialup connection, but mostly becasue i already know how stupid, inconsiderate, and weird people can be.
if i would have had a camcorder during my teens/early 20's, you'd be amazed that any of my friends survived into adulthood. and we'd all be Youtube superstars..

You spark my curiousity, Novaderrik. I imagine your friends conducted many experiments at home? Mythbuster style type experiments?
And I have the feeling I asked you about this before. Did I? If not, well, I'd love to read some stories!

One solace about YouTube; good stuff does exist there. The BA offers a good selection of videos. Neo-MSTies have RiffTrax there. Penn and Teller videos are there (I haven't seen their moon hoax debunking video lately, though. Guess a sensitive HB cried to the admins to remove it). And videos from The Amazing Meeting are there (it's a collection of several meetings. One features Phil's talk a year after the loss of Columbia).

And I've ranted too much, haven't I?

What I love about youtube is all the old cartoon there is. Ones I would be unlikly to see otherwise. Right now I am watching a whole bunch of old Tex Avery MGM cartonons, and they are GOLD! Also someone occaisionaly puts something original of value up. I am not sure about the rest of you, but I found this REALLY funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPBpXlZumNg

As I said, YouTube shows that people can be amazingly horrible... and horribly amazing.
There's a lot of clips from Cosmos, too!

I have tried it over and over and have never met with success, despite the trojan efforts of those here and on other sites, whose tireless efforts have provided endless ammunition for me personally (and I thank you all for that)

But really, I am becoming convinced that it is virtually impossible to have them see reason. Maybe I am just a noob
This may be kind of late, but I started out as a bonafide HB after seeing the fox program when it originally aired. For a time I was pretty convinced but wisely to my name I chose to research both sides of the issue and educate myself on the history of Apollo. Bad Astronomy and Clavius were central to convincing me the hoax arguments were wrong. The true value for me came from all the knowledge I have acquired from these forums since I switched sides.

I am proud to say I had a hand in convincing an HB to switch sides a couple years ago on apollohoax. As Jay remarked, I believe they weren't too invested in the hoax but I am proud to have done my part. They had posted a thread concerning the pressure gloves, assuming that the overgloves were actually supposed to hold pressure. I posted images of the actual pressure garment the overgloves covered and they remarked that they might be wrong on the whole thing.
