Default The Coca-cola Bottle on the Moon

I saw a Coca-Cola bottle on the set, when I watched the live footage of the first alleged Moon landing in July 1969, from a military base in Sydney Australia.

The camera was focused on the bottle for the first split second, before the astronauts emerged from the lander, I was gonna say something, when another soldier watching beat me to it, he said, "...there’s a coke bottle." It was definitely there.

Similarly throughout the Apollo program, one long sequence had the daytime soapy fans of Days of our Lives up in arms, as grainy grey images of alleged astronauts loping around allegedly on the Moon, interfered with their daytime viewing schedules. During that extended sequence first one then another, half Moon shaped light was visible overhead from the astronauts perspective… The latest data on that says they were studio lights.

Stanley Kubrick, I calls him Mister Boredom, is said to have directed the whole show, the only decent movie he ever made was A Clockwork Orange, and even that had a few uneven scenes, the lighting engineers, and the sound men, as well as the actors that played the parts of the astronauts were said to have been murdered afterwards, Rummy Rumsfeld of all people was said to be in on it, as well as Kissinger and Al Haig.

The Russians were awake to the scam from day one, their television people went public that the whole thing had been produced in a studio, the opposing view was that they had sour grapes because they had not got there first.

See old, tired topics Coke Bottle and The Coke Bottle on Snopes.Com and Apollo 11's Coca Cola bottles.

Calvius has pages for it, too: una ronald and the coke bottle and kick the bottle.

This was part of a little known side experiment in which a Coke bottle was extruded from the lander and emptied directly onto the regolith. It was hypothesized by one project leader that biogenesis could be achieved even under such harsh conditions as those prevailing on the Lunar surface.

The reasoning given by the project leader was that the stuff was widely claimed to "add life."

This is clearly a reference to the joke film Dark Side of the Moon. From the Wikipedia link:

Quote:
Dark Side of the Moon is a French mockumentary by director William Karel which originally aired on Arte in 2002 with the title Opération Lune. The basic premise for the film is the theory that the television footage from the Apollo 11 Moon landing was faked and actually recorded in a studio by the CIA with help from director Stanley Kubrick. It features some surprising guest appearances, most notably by Donald Rumsfeld, Dr. Henry Kissinger, Alexander Haig, Buzz Aldrin and Stanley Kubrick's widow, Christiane Kubrick.
[snip]
It is finally revealed that this is a mockumentary as the end credits roll over a montage of blooper reels, with the main participants laughing over the absurdity of their lines or questioning if particular ones would give the joke away too soon.
It's amazing how many never get the joke.

either it's a joke or just the routine HB ignorance/absorbtion of the hoax site's fluff...hard to tell them apart. It really is.

Just out of interest, what military base was that?

No doubt, having watched it live, you know that Armstrong and Aldrin exited the LM approximately 20 minutes apart. Which astronaut was it exiting the LM when you saw this?

Figaro, oh, oh, oh???

Now I have Bohemian Rhapsody stuck in my brain and I can't get it out. It's like the episode of TNG where Troy is tormented by music...

Try Zero Wing Rhapsody. It will replace that meme with a derivative meme which is almost exactly like the first meme, but which incorporates yet another meme. And that's progress, or something.

there is worse songs to get stuck in your head. I once had Kylie Minogue's "I can't get you outta my head" literally couldn't get it out of my head, I thought I was going to go starkers!
Oh and Scaramouche? What time of day was it when you saw this?

There are worse Kylie Minogue songs to get stuck in your head, for that matter. There's one I'd love to forget - I should be so lucky!

I am delighted that people are treating this thread with the seriousness it deserves. It is a joke, right, Scaramouche?

Funny you should mention this.

My college roommate and I took a trip to LA one summer to visit his girlfriend. She got a girl for me and we did Disneyland. We rode the Haunted Mansion ride, my date and me in one car and my roomate and his GF in another a few cars back.

At one point on the ride, you leave the mansion and enter a cemetery, first passing under the branch of a dead tree where a black bird (raven?) is sitting. It bends forward and squawks at you. Then you go past several tombstones and ghosts, finally coming to a Dixieland band.

Which is when the ride stopped.

We sat there for 10-15 minutes, listening to that asterisk-pound-ampersand band play the same tune over and over. Finally the ride started up again and we got out of there.

When I complained to my roommate, he looked at me with disdain. "You were lucky," he said. "You got 10-15 minutes of Dixieland jazz. We were stuck under that stupid bird!"

[/hijack]

Thanks for that, it's just reminded me of a film I've only seen once called Allegro non Troppo, which I'd like to see again. :-)
