Since I have no reason to assume you're not telling the truth, I must say that a deliberate scam is a whole different thing than continuing to refuse help. The latter would be very tragic but ultimately his own responsibility. But a deliberate scam is simply bad behaviour. I don't feel sorry for him being the victim of his own scam. As I explained in my previous posts, I would feel sorry for him if he simply refused to be helped, even thought that would be his own responsibility and not a healthy way of dealing with things. But this deliberate money-making scam over the death of his own father (or anyone), sorry, that's just low.

I have no way of knowing how much money was actually collected. Mostly he was asking for signatures on a petition. People were offering money, condolences, goods and services in kind, etc. The reason I bring up the money issue is because that's when it crosses the line to fraud. If Scott never obtains anything of value through his deception, there is no clear law-breaking. If he accepts money or other objects of actual value, then he himself might be in danger of criminal liability.

Well, perhaps I'm pessimistic, but it certianly sounds like fraud to me. Bear in mind that I'm basing that off my "extensive knowlege" (aka keeping half an eye on this thread since 9am this morning, but not knowing who Scott Grissom was prior to that). It could very well be a case of some mental illness or personality disorder. I'm not really in a possition to judge.

The important thing then is that, as far as noted by those of you here that know better than I, there does not appear to be any evidence of deliberate foul play, thus any ideas to the contrary need to show some evidence of that.

Can you please first justify calling us "sociopaths" who were actually there and involved in this matter? You have simply chided us for not taking the criticism based on your subjective and uninformed opinion. I for one would like you either to support your accusation with data or withdraw it, prior to the closing of this thread.

Betty stood by Scott in his initial attempts to bring criminal charges. She made a few appearances with him, most notably for Scott's professional organization of air transport pilots.
