Read the page I linked to. They appear to have basic assumptions that are incompatible with moon landings. So, from their point of view, NASA is attacking their beliefs.

I'd argue that NASA's claims fall short of an attack. I doubt NASA is making Moon-landing claims with the explicit aim of challenging some certain group's beliefs. Claiming to have done something that's incompatible with someone's beliefs isn't necessarily attacking the beliefs, in my opinion, unless the claim specifically refers to the belief.

Hey guys i cam across your board after reading this same article on krishna.org. First of all i want to say that i am a "Hare Krishna" but i do not agree with the sentiments on that web page article at all and totally believe that man did indeed land on the moon and that is an amazing achievement.

i would like to say that krishna.org is not an official website representing the ancient spiritual culture or any branch of the movement. It's just some guy blabbing on about some nonsense on his own website and is giving "us" a bad name. Sure, there are a lot of devotees that agree with this person but i would like you to know that there are many of us that don't.

Just as this guy on krishna.org should not be talking nonsense about the moon landings and science which he knows little to nothing about, similarly people on here should not be calling "the Krishnas" a cult.

thanks for listening and happy 40th anniversary moon landing week!

Welcome to the BAUT, Ataturk.

And thank you for your comments, which are well made.

I've been participating on and off in that discussion. Unfortunately the chief proponent of the hoax theory, Madhudvisa dasa, is also the moderator of the discussion portion, and only lets about a third of my posts through. Predictably, he keeps raising questions that I answered in the posts he deletes as if those questions are still open issues. He manipulates the appearance of the debate by controlling what criticisms are visible to his readers.

Now he's mostly devolved into the argument that all scientists are in cahoots about not revealing the hoax, and accusing everyone who disagrees with him of acting solely on faith.

Thankfully I came to understand during my last debate with Hare Krishna proponents that not all congregants believe in the hoax theory as a consequence of their religion. I am made to believe that the pro-hoax Krishnas constitutes a small, fundamentalist minority.
